Why is Ikea doing a SECOND kitchen sale?
Comments (10)There's a video on the Swedish IKEA site that shows the basics of the new system. It's a lot more customizable than the AKURUM cabinets---important if you want very specific storage and if you need to make the most of the space you have. (I wanted to wait for these cabinets but my old kitchen barely functioned at all and it wasn't worth waiting another year and a half.) The video starts out with people speaking different languages about what they want in a kitchen, but then a narrator talks about the new system in English. Here is a link that might be useful: IKEA Metod video...See MoreIkea new Metod cabinets arriving when?
Comments (5)I finally made it to Ikea and the kitchen salesman said the new system will roll out next year, fall/winter and will be an entirely new system that won't work with the current Akurum. That sucks for us because we were planning on doing an extension and moving our washer/dryer into there from the current place in the kitchen. This means that we won't be able to purchase pieces from new line to replace the appliances. We will have to buy them now in anticipation of the extension. Also makes you wonder about the 25 year warranty. How long will they continue to make replacement parts on the Akurum line once it is replaced?...See MoreIkea Kitchen Cabinet Ordering Tips
Comments (20)I just placed my order for cabinets yesterday, our ikea did allow for accessories to be included to get you to the 20%. But this ikea does not allow for additional purchases to be made after the original purchase at the 20% discount. It kind of stinks...they said you get the one time purchase and that is it. The associate told me they used to allow people to come back and purchase additional items, but they had too many contractors taking advantage and making one purchase, then coming back over and over, so they decided to make it a "one time purchase" only at 20%. I had fallen in love with the Atlantic Salt Caesarstone displayed at our ikea...at $55 sq/ft with the discount, it would have been a great price. Unfortunately, I am 80 miles away and out of the range to have the counters fabricated with Ikea's fabricators. Locally I can't find it for less than $100 sq/ft, so I'm back to searching for different countertops.......See MoreNo IKEA summer sale this year (2015)
Comments (54)My understanding is that you can bring your receipt back into the store when the sale starts, and claim the promotion-after-the-fact. The family card offers 90 days or price protection. However, a salesperson noted to me to be sure the family card number is added to the sales receipt; it's not enough just to have the family card; that specific sale has to be hooked up with the family card number. I didn't ask about lighting. From what I gathered, you need everything grouped on one receipt, and at least with my local Ikea, the cabinet transaction was processed in the kitchen cabinets area by that dept's sales staff. As long as they can process items are part of the cabinet order transaction, I imagine it's included -- and if they cannot, it is not. Back when I had some in-cabinet lights on my floorplan, I seem to recall the cabinet lighting showing up on the shopping list that the planning software generates. It makes sense to me that at least those lights would be on the cabinet "side" of the operation. A small item to make sure to count, if it's relevant - ikea sells glass drawer sides and in-cabinet dividers (the white partition - things). If you'll be buying any, the codes for those items is clearly posted by the cabinet order computers. So you can definitely include those little items when trying to hit $4000. Everything I just wrote comes from things I was told or observed at my store. To be safe, I'd double check all any of these details if they are consequential....See Morelee676
