Thanks everyone. Though it would have been simpler (much) to have chosen a "theme" and followed it throughout the house, I did not. I hope my home won't end up looking schizophrenic! My kitchen is quite "country," with Shaker-style pine cabinets in a medium stain. The powder room has a freestanding vanity with built-in countertop and sink and has more of a traditional, furniture-style design. The kids' bath has beveled doors (I still don't know what you call the detail on the cabinet) that are painted white. The guest room bath has a pedestal sink--no cabinets at all. The master has more of a "spa" like feel to it, so I went with a very elaborate, detailed, elegant "beveled" cabinet. They will be stained a deep mahogany brown. Oh, and the laundry room has cheapo Home Depot stock white cabinets. No matchey matchey in my house! I think my builder thought I was nuts, but each room sort of developed a personality as we moved along the design process. FYI our construction is a MAJOR remodel in which we tore the existing house down to the studs, added a second story, and expanded and reconfigured virtually all existing dowstairs rooms. The end result will basically be a custom home in a high-end community, so we definitely did not want a "track home" feel.

What about centering a panel door. I have 6 panel doors. we put a barn door (6 panel) between the master bedroom\bath and i like the way it looks from the bedroom but not too crazy about the bathroom side. I want to put one in between my kitchen and laundry. The laundry side will have the hardware.. But how is it going to look from the kitchen? We have to hang it high because of a cabinet issue in the laundry.. so it will be about an 84" door in a 80" hole...

I wanted to do something different because those double doors are right in the middle of the wall in the center of the kitchen. I like the french country farmhouse look which is why I picked those. Do you think something more farmhouse like these would work? I'm worried doing shaker, but not 2 panel like my powder room door will look like I tried to match but couldn't. I wish I could see some pictures of spaces with different types of doors in them but I can't find any! Maybe that means Patricia is right and I should just make them all the same!

Matters NOT. WHAT MATTERS IS does your hardware selection, the door stain or color or the hardware on that door in both style and finish...........suit the door itself, and also the exterior of your home. We certainly don't know that. Do we?
