One thing I am LOVING about the Lenox Tan is that there is NO undertone! I was so worried about a green or red undertone ,but there is NONE. And yet, the color changes dramatically as the light changes, yet every version is gorgeous. It moves from a cooler, soft tan (first thing in the morning) and then starts warming up and emitting a golden glow; sometimes it's a burnt light brown (read the thread on my LR where I liken it to the Crayon color from when I was a kid, Burnt Sienna). In the late afternoon and evening, it's like being wrapped in caramel, and at night it's just luxurious and romantic and gorgeous. It is as near a perfect color as I've seen. Of course, that is subjective! I'd call it a stunning neutral with a lot of personality..if that makes any sense. It doesn't overpower a room, but it compliments everything, esp. those natural, rustic elements, which is why I think it would look gorgeous in your BR. Btw, I'm also in MA. It's very handsome and sophisticated, as you shall see if you look at the thread.

I would love to go with the plugmold under the upper cabinets and an airswitch for my disposal no matter what kind of backsplash I end up with. I guess my main concern with that is that I don't know what the current state of the brick is, since it's covered now. I don't know if there are holes where the current outlets are and, if there are, whether they could be patched decently. I'm doing soapstone countertops, so if I left the brick for the backsplash, I was picturing possibly having a four-inch backsplash of soapstone. Would this make sense or would it look better without it? Could I put outlets into the backsplash? As for the code, I'm not sure what that says here, but I'm sure the GC will know. The brick wall is the wall where my sink and range are. The left wall and bottom wall are cypress paneling, and the only part of the right wall to be exposed will be the backsplash, and I guess that would have to be drywall painted the same color I paint the brick. I am picturing the coffee maker on the little bit of counter between the range and eating area and, possibly, the toaster in the area to the right of the sink but more likely closer to the fridge. Other than that, I won't have any appliances out and plugged in all the time. As far as the number of outlets in the kitchen, there should be plenty of outlets on the wall to the right, as well as in the island. The cleaning I'm not so worried about because it would be painted with a masonry paint and, therefore, pretty easy to wipe clean. We currently have the painted brick in two of our showers, and it's super easy to keep clean there. So, I figure if I can keep mold and mildew off it, grease won't be that difficult. I'll try to get a pic of the painted brick wall in my bathroom to give you a better idea.

Cara Lewis-Watts I love how you think! I was just reading a bit more about west/north lighting and thought Sea Salt might work. I had it for a different room and it was so washed out - but that room had a lot of natural light. I had just added Sea Salt to my list when I saw your notification! I would love it that worked - it would soften everything. I tried a few greens but they all seem so "yellow-green" and harsh. I tried BM Soft Fern (which we had some extra from painting a small office upstairs). It didn't look great with the brick. The one right above it on the color chip, I think it's BM Silken Pine was way too light and didn't look good at all by the brick. I love the idea of Sea Salt and I hope it works! Thanks for the suggestion! As for the room, we are only using it as a utility room at the moment and haven't set it up at all! I probably should have explained that better in the post. The black rug was only to cover the black and white floor temp and help our dog who has a bad knee so he didn't slip. They were on super sale at HD and are "utility rugs" - we needed something quick and efficient. Definitely not staying! We just had so many other projects we were spreading ourselves thin (the joys of a fixer upper). There is no tv on that side of the room - Bathroom door, open doorway to a closet/office and the door to the patio. This room has a lot going on - that wall alone has only about 4' of wall before there's another doorway. Oh, and w are def going to do a flush mount for the new fan too! The previous owner said the fan is from 1985 and we want it gone. Again, just triaging the repairs. I don't know if you can see it in the pictures but there's also some hideous track lighting aobve the fireplace. We are going to fix that too maybe a hanging lamp of some kind. Haven't through too far. Just trying to figure out paint before we decorate (backwards I know). The couch is covered in a canvas drop cloth and we will probably not keep it. Sit down dinners for eight? Well, you will certainly be hanging your capacious cookware from that potrack! The dimensions of the room don't allow for a dining table the size needed for eight people to be up all the time, but there are a few ways around that. One is a console table that when folded has a small silhouette and functions as a sofa table that you put behind the sofa table to hold a lamp, your remotes, a drink, etc. When you need it, it expands, and expands, and expands! With that you can use collapsible folding chairs and there are some very nice ones, including wood ones that you can store under your bed, along with the very long tablecloths. In fact, there is an article about just that sort of table on Houzz. Then you may or may decide to not get a small table for two or as you initially thought, just get two bar stools.
