Honestly -- I would pick a much deeper tan -- and put it on ALL of the walls. Every single one. LOL!

Try to pick a tone that comes from the floor and the tiles ....

Or for a complete change -- a fresh white that would help all of the surfaces blend in with the white trim and white cabinets in the kitchen. The whole house would appear brighter and far more cohesive.

THEN add color and texture with artworks and fabrics.

From what I'm seeing on my monitor, the tan color has too much pink in it to go with that green. Are you repainting everything?

In the second pic: I'd paint the area above the tan wall the same color as what is below it.

I'm not sure I'd want that much green in the LR so I'd probably paint those walls a beige color and then wrap it around the end of the upper cabinet wall.

Is that red I see thru the door in the kitchen? Not liking it! :~)

Seconding Teacats suggestion---I would choose a color I liked and paint the whole thing, making sure the faux walls are well primed. I hope they are just painted, no texture?

If you like a green, go green. A more livable gray green might be a better choice if you plan to paint it all. Or if you like the tan, go find a tan you like. Don't do anything that will clash with your floor. Paint it all the same, then, when you get your things in, you can decide if you want any areas in a different color.

I've tried to work with prev. owner colors before and it just never goes well. Repaint completely.

Hahaha Yes the faux walls are just painted no texture. I am repainting it all. and yes that was red thru the door a horrible red faux room, just repainted that one. So you don't think it would be too much to paint all the living room one color? Its so big w high ceilings I thought it would be too plain w one color, no?? I guess at this point anything would be an improvement lol

I would also do one color, you have too many angles, it would soften the look.

I agree, one color. Fabrics, upholstery, and accessories can add layers of color. It's a great space, and the difference with a new color will be wonderfully dramatic!!

Another vote for all one color.

You have very interesting architecture, but it seems so harsh and disjointed with the different colors and textures. I think it could be stunning with new paint. The cabinets and countertop are totally neutral, so I'd think you could pick any color for walls and accessories and it'll look great.

I'm working on painting my house today which has a similar open floor plan (I'm on my coffee break). I'm going with all one color. Is the lower wall in picture #2 a different color than the wall on the far left in picture #3? I like the color in picture #2, but I'm not crazy about #3, but I didn't know if it was a different color or just different lighting.

@Laurie They are for the most part the same color but I think the person got lazy on that wall.

I'm thinking both areas in the same color. I just painted part of our kitchen in Feathergrass (an Ace HW color). I had SW match. It is very similar to SW's Wheatgrass. It's a great green.

normally I say wait and paint till you've lived in a place awhile BUT this place is an exception to that.
I'd paint all the walls and ceilings in the interior the same color except the kitchen. I'd leave that till after I got everything else painted, live with it for a bit and then reevaluate at that time.
There are certain interiors that need one color used thru out. This may very well be one of them. HOWEVER depending on the color you choose that green in the kitchen might be okay as the one room you do different. The color you place on the other walls and on the ceiling is going to change how that kitchen color looks which is why I'd do all the rest of it first. Live with it a bit and then decide if the kitchen needs to be painted too.

Yes -- all of the walls need to be one color -- both in the living room and the kitchen.

Then add artworks and fabrics that help bring in colors and textures.

I have to agree with everyone who suggested using all one color. There are so many angles in that space. Seems like one color would make it so much more peaceful and relaxing. Good luck. Have fun decorating your new home!
