Help my parents pick a kitchen paint color?

Hi all!

This is probably more a psychology question.

I am trying to help my parents choose a paint color for their kitchen.

Here's the situation:

We have very different taste.

They are really not into decorating so will not tolerate me painting a bunch of samples on their wall -- they're the "get it done" type. But they want some color and to brighten it up.

They have chosen mostly earth tones and greys for the rest of the house (BM Ranchwood, BM Gray Owl, BM Revere Pewter)

They want to paint the adjoining family room BM Pittsfield Buff.

Perhaps also relevant: they both wear a lot of cool tones, like blues, wines, and purples (they're like blue eyed WASP-looking types).

They are trying to choose a lemon yellow for their kitchen and I'm not having much success pointing them to more muted yellows.

So far they have suggested BM Cornsilk and BM Lemon Sorbet

I think when you see the pic below you will likely know why I'm a bit worried about the lemon. They're not switching out any of the finishes. Any words of advice? Should I just be zen with the lemon? They are asking for my advice!
