Blanco Master Gourmet
Comments (4)PS: just to reassure you, we decided we needed the Kohler Essex in bronze instead of the Master Gournet, although I will forever regret not having a pulldown at the prep sink. The Kohler is decidedly lesser quality than the Blanco, but so be it. The Essex handles have a self-serve quality that certain denizens of our home have appreciated: PS: not to horn in on Aliris' thread, but if anyone ever sees a faucet just like the Essex, one-hole with paddle handles AND a pulldown spout, I will give you my undying love for the tip ......See MoreKWC pull-down faucets vs Blanco, Franke, Grohe etc
Comments (2)I certainly do appreciate the differences (ask my wife about Italian vs Chinese shoes!!). Still, I'm very interested in specific features and differences that would justify the price differential. For example, questions from a faucet newbie: Where are KWC faucets built? What about Franke, Blanco, Grohe? I had naively assumed they were European built, but are they all subbed out to China? Until I started researching on GW, I had always assumed these were the high end options, but obviously not. What specific construction features differ? Is it brass instead of plastic? The finish? Superior design? Do they perform better? For example, I note that the KWC Systema I mentioned lists the faucet outlet as the usual regulated 2.2 gpm, but that the pulldown prerinse provides 6 gpm. I'd love that for heavy duty cleaning. Is that exclusive to KWC?...See MoreBlanco Silgranite II Anthracite: scratched--repair?
Comments (106)My Blanco Siligranit sink is 1/5 years old. I started noticing multiple chips (probably a dozen) in the sink about 6 months ago. We are very careful and don't drop anything in the sink ever. We never put knives in the sink. We lay our knives on the countertop until we are ready to wash them. I do NOT believe knives have caused the chips. The sink also discolored around the drain hole within a month of installation. I dry the sink frequently and find that to be a pain. I'm disappointed in this supposedly durable sink. My daughter has an off-brand, black granite sink she had installed about 2 years ago. She has no chips at all and no discoloration. I finally gave in and bought the Blanco metal grid which cost $100. A rip-off, but I'm hopeful it MAY prevent further chipping. I have no idea how the chips could have happened since only my husband and I live here and we are both extremely careful -- with a sink -- go figure!...See MoreSS Sink - Blanco vs. Elkay?
Comments (12)Charlikin, I looked a little further and found a couple of other suggestions: Kindred's granite composite - 25-3/4"L x 22-3/16"W x 9-1/8"D  Scroll down to the single bowls  They come in graphite, polar white and ivory. Astracast's granite composite - 25"L x 22"W x 8"D  Astracast's composite granite  They come in alpine white, sahara stone and metallic black Are these too wide for your counters? I had a problem finding the right sink, too. I have a 29" sink base and couldn't find anything that fit my specifications. For some reason they seem to make sinks really big or really small. Nothing in between. I went back and forth between granite composite and stainless. Then I ended up getting the Blanco Silgranit (511-712) 24" x 20 13/16" x 10". Yeah, it's deep and I'm getting used to the extra reach. But it certainly is beautiful! I was able to have my existing cabinets bumped out to accomodate the 20 13/16" width. I didn't want my fauct to be squished against the backsplash. I'm not trying to talk you into anything. Just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain. :-) So to answer the question that you actually asked about the stainless sinks, I agree with Weissman. "You really won't notice the nickel content or most likely the gauge either. Pick a sink because you like a look and the price." I don't think you could go wrong with Blanco or Elkay. They're both reputable names. HTH!...See MoreCircus Peanut
