My head is spinning....photoshop help, please!

We were supposed to choose a paint color for the house shutters and front door--and my head is spinning. I'm open to suggestion (as I am not good at this)...but here's what I was hoping someone could show me.

RED front door--like maybe, SW Heartthrob? And for the shutters, I'm clueless--the siding color is SW Analytical Gray. I'd love to see how the raised panel shutters look painted a shade or two deeper than the siding--not sure how to accomplish that but I think it would look nice.

I love the idea of black shutters--but worry that it would add too much contrast to the overall look--we've got an estate grey/black roof...khaki grey siding...multicolor beige brick...and white trim.

Like I said, I'm open to suggestions--I'd just love to see it a couple different ways if anyone has time. Thanks so much!

Oh, I love the idea of black shutters. I am very interested to hear what other have to say, but with black shutters you could go very elegant--black urns on either side of the door, etc.

Good luck! Wish I could do the Photoshop edits for you.

I don't know, but I just thought I'd compliment you on your siding color. We had that color on a previous house and twice I had people come to the door to ask me what color it was. Your house is gorgeous!

The dishwashers on Miele's website are actually pretty well organized now. There are two lines of 'Prefinished' dishwashers: one group is labeled 'Prefinished, Fully Integrated' and the other is simply labeled 'Prefinished' (which have the exposed control panel). Unfortunately, it does look like all of the prefinished, fully integrated models are stainless steel. If you want white, you'll have to accept having the control panel visible. Or, as clinresga noted, you could get a 'Fully-Integrated' model and have a custom panel made for it. By the way, if you hover your mouse over the different model numbers on the Miele page, the name of the series will appear to the right. Thus you can see that all of the model numbers that begin 'G 24' are Optima models. (Why that information isn't simply always visible, I have no idea.) I'd recommend ditching the built-in bench. Any time there is a special needs type of shower it's usually better to have a movable stool or bench. You could even have both. A moveable bench-for-two where your built-in bench is on the plan. Then a stool in the southwest corner of the shower, immediately to the left as you enter. Wood is always warmer on the skin than tile. Example, you could pull the stool over by the door for you child to sit upon while you stand at the shower entry using the handheld. I'd put your handheld on a vertical bar at the midpoint of the north wall. I'd have the valve that controls that head to the right of it, on the right side of the north wall, just inside the entry. Near that valve, I'd also add a wall bracket for the handheld. When the handheld is used in typical fashion, it can remain on the vertical bar. When you need it to bathe your child, you can hang it on the wall bracket by the door when needed. A "third hand" so to speak. It can also be at a convenient height as needed. Wall brackets are fairly inexpensive. You could even put two in there, one low, another up higher. Put a long hose on the handheld. Consider an 8' hose. It'll be easier to maneuver. I'd mount the fixed head midpoint on the south wall. If you're going with separate supply valves for the two heads, which I recommend you do, I'd also have the valve for the fixed head by the door near the handheld valve. Your shower is large enough for two bathers, so two independent supply valves allows two different shower temperatures.

isabel, my backsplash is Sonoma Creamy Crackle. The UCLs are not on, so you can't see the lippage. Of course, it's hard to get a true rendering of the color in a photograph. It's a nice creamy white, slightly darker than my cabs. Depending on the light, sometimes they can look the exact same color. I was a little apprehensive about the crackle, but in reality, you don't really see it unless you get in close. It tends to give the surface a little life, without being obvious. I looked at umpteen white -> beige tiles. I like quiet and neutral and don't regret not getting something with pizzazz. It's entirely possible, had I known about the quirky corners, a discussion with the tilesetter could have avoided the problem. Who knows? p.s. I hated the original grout (tan) the minute it was done and had them take it out. I loved how the gray grout looked before it dried and wished I'd gone with a darker color. Now I'm over it and it's probably a good thing the grout is not more prominent.

Ikea price is hard to beat. I have a kitchen and bath store in the DC area moved it from Orlando (don't know how to change my name on here. I have not studied Ikea cabinets enough to understand why you would state the install on Ikea is so much higher. That does not make much sense to me. I have over 100 Ready To Assemble cabinets I offer to my local customers. The going rate for to assemble my cabinets is about $15-$18 each. Installation after assembly is pretty much the same. So be careful of the price difference you have there. All wood cabinets from costco are excellent quality. I personaly do not agree with the stigma that Ikea is superior beyone belief to other products out there. Who says they are the only company with frameless products that are any good! I have yet to meet some one who even knows what part of the world they are made in. Ikea offers a 25 year warranty. All wood thru costco is limited lifetime. If you find a independent dealer who sells them you should get a better price. We get them at 50% less than Costco does. Allwood pays for all merchandising and designs for costco. I can beat costco's price without breaking a sweat for example. Any dealer in your area with reasonable markups should do the same. 6 square cabinets is another product lines that ships in 2 weeks that is comperable in price to All wood with a limited life time warranty. Brandom Cabinets is a limited life time warranty semi custom cabinet company that allows choice of colors for approx 1.5 times the cost of Ikea. It seems strange to me that you are being pushed for a cabinet design by a contractor before you have decided what you are going to buy. That is a big red flag to me you are getting the cart before the horse. Be careful

Your roof has such a strong presence that I would rather see you do something different for the shutters. Perhaps a rich grey-green (moss, not a sage). Then a rusty red or a dark plum for the door.

A really rich darker brown with a grey undertone would also be pretty for the shutters, or a bright navy.

I woldn't put a stark black shutter on your house.

My suggestion would be SW's Black Bean on the Shutters. That would work with a multitude of front door colors like Rookwood Red or Rookwood Terra Cotta.

How about pulling the red color right from the trees that are above and to the right side of your home? It's a beautiful shade of red.

I saw on a show that you shoulod take items found in nauter in your yard and use them for your colors. You can take leaves right off the ground and take it to Walmart,HD, Lowes or where ever to mix the colors up from you right from the leaves or whatever. I have seen this done on the show and it came out great.
I don't have a knack with paintshop but I hope this helps. I am sure when your trees are changing colors it is BEAUTFUL so this idea might not bee too bad for you

Here are some other things to look at. The upper shutters are louvered, which I think is a nice texture there with the brick below and adds some interest. 'Heartthrob' red sounds very bright. I'd do soft colors with the materials you've chosen for the house. Below is a soft dark gray and then on to a dark chocolate brown. We have a few houses around here with the light shutters on light siding and they are gorgeous! One of my favorite looks.

The siding doesn't look at all gray to me, looks more like a beige, so I don't know if the photo is accurate.

Having trouble getting a color I just love to work on the door.

Went and got me some better shutters so the colors would come up better!

These first two now look gray. It was a steely tealy blue-gray.

What is the steely blue shutter you used? My first thought (a year ago) was to have a blue front door & shutters...but I couldn't find the right blue. Everything I chose was either too Navy, or blue-ish green.

Thanks (to you AND everyone else who responded) for helping me figure this out. It helps so much to see the mock-up of colors...

Do you have any SW red suggestions if you think Heartthrob would be too much? I'm only looking at these little color swatches and am not good at looking at the big picture.

I think a color like that would be gorgeous. I think that's my favorite. I'd probably want to custom paint them and choose my own coloring.

It looks like it might be the Wedgewood Blue.
