11 years agolast modified: 9 years agoI used ORB pulls on all my cabinets. The island is a very dark brown Raisin. I think the ORB pulls look very rich and warm against the dark cabinets. Definitely doesn't provide contrast though, so it depends on the look that you want.
Kitchen isn't done yet (getting close!) but you can get the idea. Hope these help.

Comments (2)I was researching this a few days ago as well, and found some articles that said this is not considered wrong from a design standpoint. It sounded like it was more acceptable to mix finishes now, and some people prefer the not so matchy look anyway. I was curious because I have 3 rooms that flow together and I have brushed nickel in two rooms. In the 3rd room I wanted to put in a ORB light. I think it will work fine. I actually just replaced the windows with ORB double curtain rods (and these flow through two rooms). I also read that if you can add at least a couple pieces in that particular finish it will look even better.... so I felt having the curtain rods and the light would make it work, but I think even without, it's ok. Comments (2)I have venetian bronze. Mostly looks like oil-rubbed bronze but I've seen some of the orb look black. It all depends on the brands. Mine is more brown with copper streaks. I bought the pulls from target and they match my delta faucet perfectly. But I had trouble with the sink strainer. Comments (12)Is there a reason to buy the hardware before cabinets and counters are installed... then you can buy a sample of orb and nickel (... or, and chrome) hardware you like, and hold them up to your cabinets in your kitchen to select the finish you like best with your other choices? we spent a week or two at the very end of our remodel opening the drawers and doors from the edges (without handles/knobs/hardware), while we ordered samples, picked our final hardware from the samples, then waited for the whole kitchen hardware order to be delivered. Comments (4)Yes, no one can look at both and take the time to be picky about it lol. You will be the ones who notice things more than anyone. And after the dust settles most of the time you wont even think about it anymore. Side note I dont think you need contrast on your cabinet pulls, a brushed brass would be really pretty with bronze..just a thought....See More

It really depends on the look you are trying to achieve. ORB is more traditional in styling and I normally think of a the dark kitchen cabinets as being more contemporary/transitional. That being said, I think ORB can work given the right pairings.

11 years agolast modified: 9 years agoI did ORB on dark in my previous kitchen, where I was trying to go with a traditional Spanish-type look in the brick-floored/viga'd ceilinged adobe house.

I like all ones posted here but then I like looking at pictures of kitchens in general :) .

11 years agolast modified: 9 years agoI thought I'd want nickel, too, but when I held them up, I much preferred the ORB. My cabs are only medium, not dark, but I love ORB on wood.

ours are Amerock, highland ridge...love them, very comfortable in your hand. we did the pulls and rectangle knobs.. was so tired of round knobs.

9 years agosorry TG, i just saw your post, i think its the lighting and/or flash as they are not pewter or silver at all.... i don't know if this pic helps, was showing the floor on this one..... the hardware is really a dark brown with glints of copper, really pretty IRL
