Just saw your post popped up on the first page and hadn't seen it before. If you really have been waiting since Sunday, it seems the forum posting is messed up. You're on the right track with marble and subway tile, that always looks good. Just do your research here to make sure you can live with it. For resale, you'll have to ask around for opinions in your area. If the cabinets are white, cream might not look good with them. You'll have to test some and see because one or the other could end up looking off. The same with cream paint. Be sure to check your sink cabinet to see if it can be retrofit for an apron sink.

There are HUNDREDS of granite yards in Houston, so finding the perfect slab should be as possible here as anywhere. If you're ready for your slabs (but not more than a month before) I'd let your fingers do the walking and call up a bunch of stoneyards to ask what they have. Don't get hung up on the stone's name because different vendors name the same stone differently, and differences between even the same variety of stone can be substantial. And if you can find a picture online of what you want, ask to email them a picture so they know what you want. If I were limited to shopping only two places, I'd suggest Arizona Tile & Stone near Beltway 8 and I-10, and Walker Zanger on the Old Katy Road just inside Loop 610. Arizona Tile has a huge indoor warehouse with a great selection; and the sales associates at Walker Zanger are very knowledgeable and they carry a large number of samples. There's also a place on Hempstead Highway near Bingle in the same parking lot at DalTile and Emser (both also worth a look). Don't remember the name of this place, but they're especially good for the various brands of quartz.

Suzannesl, wow! Thanks! I think on the website, the door is just called "square flat". The wall color is going to be SW "earthen jug". I think I like polar white for the door. I think the artic white is too stark, but will have to see it in person. Lavender_lass, great questions! I do have some pictures. I will see if I can get them posted. I have a picture of what my dining room will look like too. Our dining room set is dark cheery wood. It is a four leg federal style with Chipendale chairs. I will also try to post pictures of the lighting. We also have a matching sideboard and plan to have sconces on the wall. I will practice posting pictures! Thank you
