One thing not mentioned here: The super susan's require you to have one of those annoying, hinged, bifold doors. You get significantly more storage in a super susan but the trade-off is that awkward door. I just had a regular lazy susan installed because the doors are attached directly to the pie cut-out and spin with the unit. Decide what is most important to you, storage or a rotating door. In my case I knew that hinged door would make me psychologically unstable. The pictures from my cabinet company showed the regular lazy susan with the same awkward hinged door as the super susan, but I asked and it turned out that the revolving door was a no-cost option. I know this thread is old, but the door difference wasn't mentioned here and people do look for info in these old threads.

That is a dilemma! Crap, this stuff is hard! Since every manufacturer varies in how much useable space there is with their SS, it would really help if you could get some specs at least, and then mock it up with cardboard. I have 2 36" lazy susans (one with no innards yet, and one with the standard chrome rack with centre pole which has already gone wonky in a few months of very light use). Will it affect the size of the opening. I like mine, I can maneuver bread makers, etc with ease (my apppliances are in the 'empty' LS, not on the chrome rack- it's tippy just with very light potato chips/noodles on it) I have pics of SS in my files, and each one is different. some utilize every inch of space- ie the radius of the circle is maxed to the very edge of the cupboard, some have 1-3" of space wasted, so again, if you could get specs and info on the actual turntable that would help. this one seems to use ALL available space This one seems to waste space around the circumference

Thanks for the responses. Eastbaymom, your hinged door was what I was thinking of---a door that has a portion on each of the sides of the corner. Could you tell me what is the length of your cabinet along the back walls of the corner? Is it symmetrical along each wall? One leg of DD's U-shape kitchen is only 82" long and the other is only 93" with a 14 foot run with a window in between. With this limited space to work with she is really concerned about eating up too much of it on corner cabinets that extend so far down each wall that she won't be able to fit in a bank of drawers anywhere. Hellonasty, I can't picture the type of doors you have. Do you have one on each side of the corner and do they fold back very flat against the next cabinet? That might eliminate the problem of having hinges sticking out but it sounds like a custom cabinet. Jeanar's kitchen in the FKB seems to have an upper cabinet similar to what you are describing. I may be missing something, but if you're putting a circular "shelf" into a rectangular cabinet, i.e. your 33"x36" - the maximum diameter of your circle will be constrained by the smaller of the two dimensions. This will result in lost or unusable space in the cabinet. Better to keep it square for a lazy/super susan. Good old fashioned graph paper and a compass may help visualize and finalize your dimensions. There's nearly a full square foot of space differential (per shelf) between using a 28" diameter shelf vs a 32" diameter shelf. With two levels in the cabinet, that's a lot of storage space.
