Low-voltage pendant over sink: Is moisture a problem?
Comments (3)That sounds like plenty of clearance to me. I think the problem is the concept of "high moisture". Do you ever feel like you're in a "moist" environment when you're washing dishes or using a prep sink? I mean moisture has to get past the bulb stem and into the socket where the wiring is to do any damage. So, even though your hands may be wet, do you think there's any significant level of moisture at the level of your head? 6"-8" above your head? How would water or steam ever get up there? I think that's where the answer lies. What does your electrician say? 'Cause I'm not sure you were talking to an electrician rather than a clerk at the manufacturer's office. You know, like the over the counter drugs that have so many warnings you wonder if anyone should ever take them? She might have been reading the PYA stuff that they provide and making very broad recommendations from them. But that's just my opinion. Ask your electrician....See MoreHelp with Island Pendant Lighting - PB Flynn Oversized Pendants

Comments (15)@ RL - very good points re: cleaning. @groveraxle - goodness, I love your candor. Here's the thing. Those are knock-off Beat pendants and they're served me over the last 5 years but I'm ready for an update. They are also very low wattage so provide very little down lighting. I'm also SUPER fussy about finishes matching, and I'm doing chrome faucets and pulls. I don't like brushed + chrome look lol. I'm picky-picky. We have vaulted 16+ foot ceilings and the space feels large at over 20 feet long (even though the island breaks up the middle), I really feel like we need pendants over the island to break up the space. But I am definitely going to hold off on the pendants over the eating bar. @Patricia Colwell - i love that look but probably for another room. Thank you so much everyone!...See MoreHow far apart should I space pendant lights over Long Island?
Comments (14)What you should do is place the pendants absolutely centered on the island but place them 1/3 of the way in from the seating area. Then place a high hat directly above your sink for good task lighting. That's what I did and it works beautifully. Those sitting at the island get good lighting and you working at the sink get good lighting and no one will ever notice if it's slightly off because no one ever stands exactly dead center looking....See Morehoneychurch
