Wolf oven dilemma - What would you do?
Comments (12)Thanks for all the advise. Our current oven is a 6 year old Whirlpool (came with the house). The electronic display is out and there are two circuit boards that need to be replaced. From what I read on line, this looks to be a common and reoccurring issue with this model. I don't love this oven but don't hate it either but not sure it's really worth repairing. I'm going to call Wolf directly today and tell them about my experience. The reason I find it hard to believe that it was an honest mistake is because he made a big deal about not paying attention to the MSRP on the print out, specially writing another lower price, crossing it out and writing and even lower price. I've seen this sales tactic used in other high pressure sales situations with timeshares and car dealerships. If Wolf really doesn't allow a dealer to discount an oven, what was with the writing down a price and crossing it out and writing a lower price in the first place? Why would he tell us to disregard the MSRP on the print out? It just doesn't make sense to me. This was an older man who said he's been selling appliances for years. You'd think he would notice being off by almost $1k. We were looking at the most expensive oven in his store and he said they sell a lot of them, so you'd think he'd be familiar enough with the price to know he was off by so much. Depending on what Wolf says, I'll either find another dealer, even if I have to pay a higher price, or I'll start looking into Elux. I think Elux wasn't on our list of possible ovens because my husband had read some where that they had similar control board issues as our current oven. Perhaps he was mistaken or it was just an isolated issue. Thanks for the recommendation! -juliew...See MoreTo-do before using Wolf Rangetop for first time?
Comments (3)Is it an all gas or a dual fuel? Griddle, grill, or all regular burners? I called Wolf when I first got mine (DF, 6 burner, no grill or griddle), and to my memory, there was nothing special to do before first using the rangetop. I think I remember there was something recommended for the oven--running it at a specific temp for a specific time. I also recall that when I called to ask this question, they had me verify the serial number and made sure I and my range was in their system. I'd call them to verify. Enjoy your new range!...See MoreAnyone use cabinets by Wolf?
Comments (92)I posted above 2 months ago and I want to update now that we've laid eyes on Wolf Classic white painted cabinets. The headline for me is "thank goodness we chose a great contractor". We signed up with a big operation that must do a lot of work with Wolf. They inspected every cabinet at their shop prior to bringing them to the job site (our home) and I've learned there were a few that were damaged and sent back for replacement. Some of the replacement cabinets even showed up damaged and had to be replaced. All in, the quality of the cabinet is not great but we are lucky enough to have a good contractor that's making all the door / drawer adjustments and will touch up all the paint imperfections, of which there are many. We ordered white painted and so they're bound to have flaws vs a stained cabinet which would probably be less delicate. However, as other reviewers noted, you would expect better quality for the money. I can not in good conscience refer you to Wolf Classic but I could refer you to our contractor if you're in the Atlanta area. We purchased cabinets from Cabinets.com for a basement remodel 2 yrs ago and based on our observations the Cabinets.com product is better. Key differences to note, white painted wolf classic doors are MDF and supposedly will hold the painted finish better over time because contraction and expansion is reduced. Cabinets.com are maple doors, cabinet interior is nicer, they use blum soft close hardware and they didn't show up damaged. Of course there are many cabinet brands to consider but at a similar price point Cabinets.com appears to be a better product. Wish we would've considered them again or another brand. Having said all that, our kitchen project is going to look great when it's done but I doubt they'll look great in 10 years. Definitely no comparison to the quality of the 80's cabinets we just had ripped out. Reach out if you have any follow up questions....See Morewolf Classic kitchen cabinetry
Comments (6)I know, 5 years is not ideal, but is ok with me at this point. I prefer non-imports too. I just want to make sure they are nice looking, made from wood and don't fall apart. not looking for the best quality (I can't afford it), but pretty good quality that would last for at least 5 years would be nice!...See Moregaetanp
