How about a 6" pullout cabinet on one side? Yes, it will look unbalanced. Another option is to put in 3" filler pullouts b/w cabinets on the each side of the range.

What is the cabinet lineup right now? Do you have at least two base cabinets on each side of the range? If so, put a 3" filler pullout b/w those two cabinets on both sides...that will balance it out. You can use them to store spices, baking sprinkles, oils, etc. (Be sure the shelves are adjustable.)

Note: The filler pullouts will not be installable b/w the range & cabinets b/c you need cabinet walls to attache the pullout out to on both sides...unless someone knows of filler pullouts that attach to one side or to the top & bottom somehow... Anyone?????

Center the hood over the range. It's recommended the hood be 6" wider than the range or cooktop, so that will work nicely.

Can you post your layout?

Rev-a-shelf makes a 3" wide spice drawer pull-out. You can fit one on each side of the sink and either make a door panel that will match your doors, or use a column on the front if it. Here's mine:

Don't give up on finding what you want at a deal. I've found amazing deals on Miele products on craigslist. I would not have been able to afford them retail. They are unused and I have the warranty cards. Try ebay and craigslist before you give up on what you want. Now, I do have time on my side as these appliances will sit for 6 months but I was willing to do that to score the good deals.

Ccoombs1...those look like filler pullouts. Are they attached to the sides of both the cabinets?

If so, the OP has a range, not a cooktop cabinet so there would be nothing to attach the pullout to on the range side. Now, if they're only attached on one side, they would work.

However, the only filler pullouts I've seen so far are attached to both cabinets on each side of it.

Remodelfla knows the deal aspect. Does she ever. If cabinets aren't installed yet and the layout permits it, you could probably just shove the cabinetry together for the easiest solution to accommodating a 30" range or get pullouts or some other filler but I'm with R-fla. Don't give up quite yet (unless you really ARE out of time).

Does Sears carry any brands you like? Check their outlet stores. Odds are only one in four that and scratch or dent will be on the front. From other stores, look for floor samples, end-of-the-model-year clearances, etc...unless you're in a real time crunch, there's still a chance!

I'd be looking for a scratch and dent -- Sears and some other stores have clearance centers that specialize in returned and closeout appliances. Craigslist, Habitat for Humanity's Restore, ebay -- try calling appliance centers and specifically asking for deals they might have on returned or dinged appliances. They are likely off the floor and where you won't see them unless you ask.

My pullouts are sandwiched in between two cabinet boxes, but they are also in their own little cabinet box so it would work just fine to attach them only on one side. But I guess by the time you add the cost for two cabinet boxes, the pullouts and the decorative columns on the front, you would be running into some good $$ so it may not really save all that much.

You might want to check out the NXR range. It seems to be getting good reviews and is very affordable -- comes in both 30 and 36. Not sure if it has a self clean oven though.

Sears sells a Kenmore 36" stainless range w/self-cleaning oven for about 2K. It appears to get very good reviews.

Does anyone know who makes this for Kenmore?

The cheapest way is to order two 3" plain fillers. 3" or 6" Filler pullouts are around $150-$200 each and you would still need a 3" or 6" filler from your cabinet company and a little extra toekick material and installation charges. So call it $300 to $500 more for the pullouts.

Howevah, you still have the issue of the countertops if you are using a solid surface like quartz, corian, granite, etc. You either make the counter for a 36" appliance and patch in something over the filler or pullout OR you cut the counter for a 30" appliance and then pay perhaps a fortune to have it recut in place when you get the larger range.

If it was my choice to make, I'd look at economizing on something like the counter tops combined with purchasing the 36" range and then come back and do fancy counters later.

I agree with Remodelfla. I recently found an amazing deal on my Thermador appliances on craigslist. Many people have had to put their renovations on hold due to the economy, and are selling new and slightly used appliances at huge discounts.

I agree with all of the above - check Craigslist as well as all the Craigslists around your local one. An easier way to do this is to go to Google, put in your search terms, for example, then near the search button click on "advanced search" then scroll down to the letters which say "Date, usage rights, numeric range, and more" click, then click on "Date" - I would click on "past week" - then scroll down and click on "advanced search" - all Craigslists will show who posted in the past week something like what you are looking for. Scroll down looking for the areas you want to search in. This is how I found my Oceanside Glass Tile for $5.00 a square foot. I also found my sink that way. I drove 3.5 hours each way, but it was worth it.

I did a quick search and found a beautiful 36" Kitchenaid Stainless gas range in RI for $2,600.

There is a 36" Kitchenaid Architectural Series range - 3 years old, in Phoenix - I believe looking for best offer.

Also a Viking 36" gas range in Phoenix, but too much, $4,995 - I'd try to make a deal.

And in San Francisco, there is a beautiful Thermador Range for $1,300/best offer.

Also the restores, and in Boston there is a Boston Materials Resource Center. They had a Miele single wall oven on for a while - its still there - maybe you could purchase a wall oven and put it below a cooktop - you could still have a 36" cabinet. Last, GreenDemolitions has appliances in CT, NY and PA, and currently have a tent sail in their NY location. They will also crate and truck appliances. They may even have the range you want, used and at a very excellent price. They currently have a new 36" gas cooktop for $609.

Keep looking for what you want! Remodelfla is right!

Best Buy has a brand of ranges called Premier. They come in a 36" for less than $2K. They are definitely not the high end ranges but they might work for awhile. They have a rather retro look.

Go look for last year models and store displays, in the back rooms of places I saved a ton buying my appliances this way.

I've seen the 36" Frigidaire Pro model for under 1800. It has good reviews.
