miele dishwasher owners - show me your plumbing!

We are doing final plumbing for miele fully integrated dishwasher installation this week. Dear hubby noticed a funky looking thing on the dishwasher drain. Not much information in the installation manual, but it appears the plumbing is supposed to be pretty high up in the wall - ours is down near the bottom of the cabinet. We may need to do some creative plumbing to get this right - but want it ready to go before the installer comes. Can you please show me pictures of your miele dishwasher plumbing under your kitchen sink?

I've never had luck with pictures on this site - ours is down at the bottom of the cabinet not up high. The 'funky' thing on the hose is the automatic shut off I believe to avoid overflow.

I hope others will be able to assist you with pictures.

Good luck. I love my Miele and I'm sure you will too.

I have a miele dishwasher -sorry I don't have photos, but I do remember that the plumbing is a little different than most dishwashers. I think they extend (maybe even double) to warranty period if you use a certified Miele installer. Apparently, if it isn't installed properly there can be problems. The one time I had to call their customer service department, they were very helpful. Maybe they can answer your question. By the way, I love that dishwasher - it's a dream! Good Luck.

I pulled the filter and checked mine last night. There is water like yours and there was some small bits of food particles. Did not smell. Although It finished running a load about 18hrs before. I can't test the two day thing since it pretty much always has dirty dishes in it. When there is dirty dishes in it obviously will have an odor that will build over time. I scrape but do not rinse my stuff. Wasn't as hard to break the habit that we had with rinsing the dishes since we were without a DW and sink for like 8 months for my remodel so it was like starting over :). I just started using the DW a few weeks ago. I have started using Miele Tabs and using 1/2. No rinse aid or salt. I have a whole house water softener and I just tested the water again and its at like 2 grains vs 28 without the softner. Kas, You use Tabs and rinse aid. I thought based on the directions that rinse aid should not be used with Tab detergents? I set the unit to not dispense any rinseaid. I do get white spots on silverware, plastic and glasses. Not sure I should add rinse aid.

We have very soft water (0 grains). As a result I use very little detergent and a bit more rinse aid. I've gone to Miele tabs and use no more than 1/2 for most washes. Rinse aid dispenser is at 4 -- one tick above average. Was using Cascade powder but got much better results with the tabs. The combo of soft water, more than minimal soap and hot water sometimes causes glassware to streak or etch so less is more. As antss says, change only 1 thing at a time. As for cycle length, it doesn't bother me at all. We put the DW on at night before we got to bed. If I need a faster cycle I use china/crystal. For most large loads we use Normal. For just dishes -- none or few pots -- we use china/crystal.

If you look at the post I just listed last night titled "Finally, granite is installed", it will show our D/W on the right side of the island. We used a single panel and when closed, it matches the rest of the island perfectly. The door is slightly open in the pic. When we have people over for the first time, they are always asking where the dishwasher is thinking we don't have one. Our frig is not integrated. I wasn't willing to pay the price for that since we already had a stainless fridge.

Hi 80810snut, I didn't see any benefit to the commercial machine given our usage: we wanted drying because we unload the dryer into our cabinets. The pro-speed cycle plus drying time = express cycle time on the residential machine. So, for our dishwasher there was no difference in timing on a program that included drying. Yes, 2K vs. 5K was also a big consideration. Even if I was saving 20 min. per day, I wouldn't pay the extra 3K given how we do dishes usually: after dinner and don't unload until after an hour of TV, so an extra 10-20 minutes didn't seem to make any difference and the cost is astronomical. In a commercial setting with continuous use the extra $$ makes sense, but we're usually doing 1 load a day, maybe 2 max except for special occasions. For special occasions (lots of cooking) I can do an express short load in 23 minutes... that's 4 minutes longer than the equivalent load on the 8083. I decided I could deal with an extra 4 minutes *shrug*. IOW 3K>4 minutes. Also, repairs: I figured if anything went wrong I would be able to more easily find residential repairpeople who knew the residential units. Hope the above helps.

I am having the dishwasher installed by a certified Miele installer. However, if we need to fix our plumbing, I want to do it now (while DH is home and able to do so) rather than having the installer make a second trip back here (to the tune of $$$)! I called the showroom and they said there is a little hose adaptor when the water is down low in the sink cabinet - it is all included in the installation. I can't wait to actually have squeaky clean dishes again!
