No gel but all in one tabs are ok as long as the setting is on tab for a tab cycle. What I do (and I checked with them, they said ok) is to change off the tab setting and just still use a half-tab when I use express. I use the Miele tabs which are crumbly anyway and they work just fine. I've got some rinse aid in there so if a load gets a double dose of that I figure what the heck. The dishes come out clean and dry. I'm a bit of a dw nerd but not 2 kinds of detergent crazy. I get the Miele tabs from vacuum-express and almost never use a whole one so they go twice as far. I'm sure there's a more economical approach but 0 issues with anything since I switched to those and great results, so if it ain't broke....

I pulled the filter and checked mine last night. There is water like yours and there was some small bits of food particles. Did not smell. Although It finished running a load about 18hrs before. I can't test the two day thing since it pretty much always has dirty dishes in it. When there is dirty dishes in it obviously will have an odor that will build over time. I scrape but do not rinse my stuff. Wasn't as hard to break the habit that we had with rinsing the dishes since we were without a DW and sink for like 8 months for my remodel so it was like starting over :). I just started using the DW a few weeks ago. I have started using Miele Tabs and using 1/2. No rinse aid or salt. I have a whole house water softener and I just tested the water again and its at like 2 grains vs 28 without the softner. Kas, You use Tabs and rinse aid. I thought based on the directions that rinse aid should not be used with Tab detergents? I set the unit to not dispense any rinseaid. I do get white spots on silverware, plastic and glasses. Not sure I should add rinse aid.

Hi Asolo, How are you liking your new machine? I agree that it's probably too much detergent. It was all I had on hand at the time and also the sample that came with the D/W. How is your drying with your plastics? We use a lot of the rubbermaid refillable 20 oz drink containers (instead of buying bottled water) those came out dripping wet both on the bottom and the top racks of the D/W. Hi Fiddleddd, I was just thinking about you, wondering if you had decided on a D/W. I did take some pics for you of the D/W, just hadn't gotten them posted yet. Probably will need hubbys help with that since loading the pics onto the 'puter is always a pain. I can tell you the vent on the side does appear to be a vent. You can feel warm air coming out, and when I put a mirror up next to it, it fogs up. It's venting during the washing cycle. I didn't notice it yesterday, as when I held a mirror up to it, it was not fogging up. Perhaps it only happens at parts of the cycle. I really don't know what to think of this, as all the newer higher priced (quieter) K/A D/W's are moving to this system. It doesn't make any sense to me to vent towards the cabinets. There is also vent is on the bottom of the door, it's rectangular shaped, and blows the air straight out, not down at the floor. It does blow out the air during the drying cycle, and does NOT stay closed for 4 hours as they told me. they don't seem to know much about this model at all. But I can tell you that the air blowing out of either vent could not be seen, meaning it didn't look like steam, and felt fairly "dry". I know you were wondering about the depth of the unit, our cabinets are 23 and 5/8 deep, and the D/W sticks out 1.5 inches from the base cabs (not including our doors, they stick out about an inch) so it looks ok, but doesn't sit flush. The D/W is very quiet, but I can definitely hear it. I do have pretty sensitive hearing though. Please let me know if you have any further questions, i'd be happy to help if I can. I let them sit for a few hours and then opened the door, and most were dry except the Rubbermaid drink containers. Perhaps they are a difficult shaped item to dry. 1) Should the door hinge be "upgraded" like the washer? My washer has the newer roller hinge, but the dryer does not (the dryer hinge is a vertical blade, unlike the washer's horizontal one). Will this cause a problem, and is Miele changing these on dryers?Your dryer is fine, as the latch receiver is the same as it has ever beenÂno modifications known to date. I am experiencing some rattling. This is not vent related, I have the newer lint filter with holes on the top, and it's not due to noise from clothes. Testing with only two towels, I get the standard "whooshing" sound for maybe 10 minutes. Then, some rattling (sounds like a metal screwdriver tapping on a metal plate, at a rate of 2-3 taps per second) for 30 seconds. Then no rattling for another 15 minutes. The sound isn't much louder than a metal zipper thrashing in the tumbler, but it's definitely coming from inside the machine. I've read other rattling posts, and was wondering if this sound is normal, or if this needs to be repaired.This noise is emanating from where the hose connects to the rear of the dryer. Depending on how your dryer hose connects (e.g., mounting flange on flexible duct) you will have to reach around and snug it into place better. I had the exact issue, and yes, it did sound like metal tapping.
