A couple questions for KA KUDE60 dishwasher owners...
Comments (6)1) I've had my KUDE60 since July 09. Like faith2009, I removed the long bottom silverware basket. 90% of my silverware and utensils go on the cutlery rack (3rd rack). The larger items either lay on the middle rack or the corner utensil basket on bottom. LOVE the cutlery rack! It takes some getting used to but it's so worth it :) 2) Filter is not hard to remove. Don't know the extent of your back problem. I have a bad back too. I'm short and it's very easy to get to. It doesn't hurt my back anymore than than any other bending and reaching forward does. There is a chart for how often you need to check your filter. Without digging thru my manuals, it seems like for someone that scrapes their dishes, once a year. 3) I'm measuring 2 1/8 inches from the dishwasher to the outside (side you tummy would touch) of the handle. Being short, that has caused it to be a little bit harder to reach things in hte cabinet above. I'd still choose this awecome dw even if I knew that ahead of time. It's not a deal breaker! 4) It vents from the top. This dw closes the vent till 4 hours after the cycle has ended. I've never caught any steam coming out of it. I'm sure it does tho. I don't use the heated dry cycle so maybe that's why. The dw comes with a foil tape that goes on the underside of the counter overhang. It's to prevent moisture damage. Just because a dw vents from the front doesn't mean you're out of the woods. My daughter's dw vents from the front. I've seen the steam rolling out of it and straight up onto the counters. She has Formica. The particle board is starting to bulge and if she doesn't do something about it NOW, she's going to have expensive problems to deal with :o Monica...See MoreNew Kitchenaid DW not drying...what the?
Comments (8)reshal, rinse aid MUST be used to get proper drying performance out of almost any dishwasher nowadays. As weissman stated, enzymes in the detergent has no relation whatsoever to rinse aid. And plastics typically don't dry very well anyway. You'll get the best results by using rinse aid, and prop the door open partway for a few hours (or even overnight) after the cycle finishes so residual moisture can evaporate. Rinse aid is not a new concept, it has been on the market since the 1960s....See MoreKitchenAid Dishwasher questions:
Comments (10)I have a KA "S" model - about five years old and it's great. It can mounted to the side cabinets without any special kit. There are instructions in the manual - you can probably read it online - basically, there are plugs on the sides of the DW that you remove, take the tabs from the top of the door, insert them on the sides and screw them in. Mine vents out the top front - no problem at all....See MoreQuestion for inset cabinet owners, what dishwasher did you have?
Comments (7)Miele, Bosch, and Fisher Paykel models will all work. I even believe Kitchenaid will too. For any model, check the spec/dimension sheet and look for the overall depth including the thickness of the door, which should be less than 24" to sit flush w/ inset cabinetry if the depth of the cabinet will be 24"....See Morewarmfridge
