it's the 'help me pick stools' thread again...my turn!

Ok, so I posted my almost finished kitchen today so some of you have had a chance to look at the pics and get a feel for the space. I am trying for a fusion of farmhouse features like beadboard and schoolhouse lights with newer materials like cork and slab doors. I have three choices for stools and I am torn...each one has a feature that could make it fit the "old" part of our kitchen. We are trying to pull things back in time a bit but also address new things like our bev cooler and stainless appliances. I have for your consideration...

I think I like #1 and #3 best. I know #3 is really modern in shape but it would go really well with the oak butcherblock and breakfast bar material. I know #1 would go too. #2 is moving further down the list of favorites for me. Initially I was looking for a soda style but I'm not sure it works now that I have everything assembled.

What do you all think? Votes?

The reason one window in the bedroom is operable is in order to meet the code requirement for an emergency escape and rescue opening in all bedrooms. I have many times advised homeowners on the GW to not allow a builder to use the cryptic convention of using 60 to mean 72" or 6'-0" on the elevation drawings. (By the way, in my experience, 60 means 72" as silly as that seems) All window sizes should be dimensioned in rough opening feet - inches for the benefit of the framer. All windows should be specified separately for the benefit of the supplier in a Window Schedule that shows the manufacturer, model, rough opening, glass type, color, mullions, hardware, etc. Otherwise you are asking for mistakes. You might ask the GC where the horizontal mullion/sash rail is in the middle of the windows that were ordered for the front of the house. Something stinks; I think someone is making you take responsibility for their unprofessional mistakes. I not only provide clients with window schedules, I insist on reviewing the order before it is submitted which is a tedious and thankless job since all manufacturers use different cryptic conventions for their order sheets. I have never checked an order where there wasn't a mistake and some of them would have been very expensive to correct after delivery. Sometimes a window manufacturer will make a mistake with a correct order but that can be corrected at no cost to the owner. The issue here is documentation. If the correct windows were documented all errors should be corrected at no cost to the owner with no debate. I should also add that in the past 40 years I've known only one GC to order through a lumberyard/box store instead of a wholesale window supplier and the resulting mistakes in that order were the worst I've ever seen.

Love the new cut. My only suggestions would be to deepen the part to the side a little more, then get the bangs more wispier/choppy. That can add a lot of drama with little effort. And one thing I noticed as prevalent in the pinterest board is that nearly every hair color had highlights-as MUST to add depth and dimension, especially for fine, straight hair. I only WISH my hair were so straight. It used to be, but now it's so dang poofy. Not curly, not frizzy, just poofy-very full of body and poofy. I want my hair to look like it did in 1994 again...my DD said my hair looked like a Pantene ad. (My DH had awesome hair back then, too!)

Missy- have you thought about having him stain the wood to get the exact color you want. I stained our walnut darker before putting on the waterlox. Can't wait to see it! Lakegirl- our island is 84"x36"... I just went down and looked at them and it's hard to say if they would be too big for a 66" length...they could definitely be moved closer together... I'm just not sure if they would have to be too close together for the size. Could you order them and hold them up to see and then return them if they turn out to be too big. I did that with the hundi lanterns from Pottery Barn. After seeing them in person I realized they were too big. I have another idea. Ballard design has the carriage house lantern that is the same style, but a little smaller. The capital pendants are 10" square and the Ballard Design ones are 8" square. I have the larger (12") Carriage House lantern in my foyer. Here's a pic I just looked at BD website and they have a new pendant I think would look great over an island. Check out the Calisse Pendants. I might have done two of those of the island. They are a little bigger (11"). I don't know why my pictures are so big. I resized it but it still huge!

#1 seems to fit best with the bottle opener & beadboard, but #3 is cool, too. Too bad you can't put the seat of 3 on the bottom of 1!

Hi Doggone,
I'm going to agree with most of the other posters. I think #3 would look very nice in your space, AND the seat looks comfy, too (which is also an important consideration when selecting a stool).

3 it is. My hubby liked those too. I nearly had a heart attack though when I realized I had not even CONSIDERED the height of the stool in question. I looked and the one I had bookmarked and linked for you all was a table height. My... pulse...went...through...the...roof........ Then I found that luckily, they have a bar height version. Heart attack averted. Crisis no more.

Two cool stools coming right up.

I have to agree with #3! It'a a nice marriage of rustic and contemporary while still looking like they will be comfy and can stand up to daily use.

I love #1! I would like to know who sells this one. I have not seen the wooden barrel look before. My island will have beadboard also and I pick number one for both of our kitchens.

Great kitchen! #3 is a lovely choice, but will it hold a heavier person? Those legs looks very frail. Enjoy your new kitchen!

They're HERE! They arrived today. Sitting on my porch when I got home from work. Sorry for the cell phone photo but it's just a quick shot to show how they look next to my IKEA butcherblock countertop under my breakfast bar.

They seem very sturdy. I was a little concerned about the legs as well but I think I could jump up and down on these. Those legs are more chubby and hefty than I expected. I really like them. I did beeswax them with the same finish from my countertops so they won't be sitable for a couple of days until that has a chance to settle into the oak really well but here is a photo of them...
