Color of hardware, pendants to go with appliances?

We have a lot of stainless in our kitchen--2 DWs, 2 fridges, 2 sinks. Will have stainless or chrome faucets. Our cabinets are cream, our granite is cream with browns and grays and burgundy (Sienna Bordeaux), and we will have wood floors. I like the idea of brown-toned hardware and light fixtures to contrast with the cream cabinets and pick up the browns in the granite and floor, but do you think it would look weird with all the stainless? Should I stay with silver/gray for these elements too? Not good with colors, and would appreciate help! Thanks.

I think , from what you described, that brown-toned fixtures and hardware would look really nice, and will go perfect with the cream cabinets and browns in your granite and flooring. No need to match the appliances...

Thank you all for taking time to post and for your reassurance that the metal finishes can be successfully mixed. Although in those beautiful kitchens, I really think anything would look good! Mine is definitely more 'humble'.... (Shanghaimom - your kitchen is my dream.... I had seen it on another thread and bookmarked it. I just didn't focus on the fact that the pulls were burnished brass - on my monitor, they looked like brushed nickel.) So - let's assume that I do use antique gold-toned hardware in the kitchen. Since we will be painting woodwork and replacing cabinet hardware throughout the house (both bathrooms, hall linen closets, laundry cupboards) does it all need to match the finish of the kitchen hardware? Or could I use a different finish in the bathrooms ie satin nickel or oil-rubbed bronze? We were not planning to replace all of the interior doorknobs (50+ year old brass) when the woodwork is painted - in case that impacts your answers. Thanks again for walking me through this....

Waterstone makes a copper faucet but since your sink is SS I don't think a copper faucet is right. Colonial has copper handles (I think). Waterstone just came out with a line of pulls but pretty pricey. Not sure if all colors available but probably so u can coordinate with their faucets. I know your pain- I hunted and hunted and hunted for antique brass pulls and ordered them. Then second guessed myself, especially when I saw Badgergal's pulls. Hers are SS and the style I wanted but they didn't come in AB. I decided to stick with what I purchased which were solid brass in AB finish. Your colors are similar to ours. SS appliances, cherry cabinets. Lots of pictures posted already so won't bore all with more.

I feel torn on this one. Contrasts are nice, as I have that look going on with my living and dining rooms. But something about the pewter just speaks to me - I just haven't seen it anywhere (including on the Pottery Barn site) so I have no idea if it will look good! I feel like I have a lot of dark going on, with the dark floors and island and some of the cabinetry. Hmm...I'm going to buy the pewter at Pottery Barn, I already have the bronze. I'll hold them both up and ask the question again! Thanks!

I think you posted the same pics a while back - 4 square colonial? I wouldn't want those chairs in a 4 square colonial. I would be going with something much more traditional and I agree with Patricia that swivel is better. What do the furniture and finishes in the rest of your home look like? A little glitz and glam is never bad, just don't want too much. If it were my home I may be looking at mixing the metals and doing some gold or brass.

EFC, we have cream cabinets, with stainless, white and black (stove top)appliances. ORB hardware and lighting, and SS faucet.

I don't have them yet, but I am planning to use ORB or other brown toned metal for my pendants in an otherwise all SS and brushed nickel room. Reason? They will be in front of dark-stained cabinets and I would like the down-rods to blend in and have the onyx shades what you notice. Although after seeing jossfan's beautiful pendants, I may be on the wrong track.

They are Minka-Lavery 1730 series -- found them online and then ordered them from local lighting guy. Couldn't believe I found them after looking at curve after curve after curve! I have a 5-lt chandelier to match over the dining room table.
