new pics of finished house - finally
Comments (31)Hi again, To answer a few of your more recent questions: The shingles are Landmark 30 year shingles in Black Moire. As for the lighting fixtures, I got the pendants and the chandelier in the dining room from American Lighting here in Knoxville. I wish I could tell you the brand but I can't remember. I picked them from a catalog. The ceiling fans all came from Lowes. And the sofa is made by Broyhill. I found the style on their website and went to a local furniture store to pick out the fabric. It was literally 1/2 the price of a similar one I had wanted from Pottery Barn and it is a very well made and comfortable sofa....See MoreFinally getting around to posting finished DIY Pics
Comments (3)What a huge transformation! Are you thrilled to have replaced that Harvest Gold frig? It was one of the happiest days of my life to have trashed my 70s gold appliances. :-) Anyhow may I archive your kitchen in the Finished Kitchens Blog? You can indicate your permission here in the thread or send me an email (starpooh@gmail.com). Then, sometime in the near future, please submit the FKB Category Checklist so I can easily categorize your kitchen details. Thank you!! Comments (90)I have ordered a few doors from Cabinetnow - one is the walnut one that you used - your kitchen is so rich and warm. My plans are to use the tung oil as you have as I can see why you are so pleased with the results. But.. I am back to "stupidity". I "get" the bases. You buy the frame (and hinges too I guess from what I have seen) from Ikea and the doors from Cabinetnow. Makes sense to me. But... If you have a frame for the lower base, how do you get the drawer boxes without drawer boxes fronts - since I will be also ordering these from Cabinetnow? I have been all over the site and I am just not seeing it. For those of you who have done this, please just point me in the right direction. TY...See MoreFinished Kitchen Finally!! Pics
Comments (55)Juniork - yes the backsplash goes to the ceiling behind the hood fan. I thought it would look weird if we ended it partway up. ejbrymom - Yes, I absolutely loooove my KA appliances. Now I might not be the best to judge considering that my dishwasher was about 1000 years old. The first time I ran the dishwasher I called my husband and kids into the kitchen and said shhhhh listen. They all said "what, what" and I said "the dishwasher is on". They were all amazed, so compared to what we had before I can hardly hear it! The fridge is quiet too once I got used to the ice maker which scared the c**p out of me on the first night because I wasn't used to it. I love the range too - it's perfect :) rikerk - the island length is 80" the width at the widest part is 49" and the width at the straight part is 30" Love the size for our space. Noellabelle - I absolutely ADORE your granite. I looked at your kitchen pics many times when I was in the process of choosing our granite. Jalsy6 - Yes, the big microwave dilemma. We will be putting the microwave in an additional storage pantry that is located just at the entrance to the kitchen but outside the kitchen itself. We are not big microwave users (in fact we still haven't purchased a new mw and I haven't really missed it), so that made our decision a little easier but I can imagine that it wouldn't be ideal if you used your mw a lot. Thanks again for all of your nice comments :) L...See Moresmilingjudy
