Help choose floor tile - photos

Please help me choose my floor tile...

With granite, backsplash sample and cabs. The one on left is more gold/tan while the one on right is more white-pinkish... The BS is going to be 4x4 on the diagonal of the earth toned slate. Over the cooktop there will be a copper colored silk glass border(like a picture frame) with 1x1 silk glass mosiac inside (can see it in the photo album). Also, there will be random 4x 1x1's in the diag 4x4's. I hope I'm describing adequately.

In the first two pictures I prefer the one on the left. Last picture the one on the right.

I agree with eandhl. In the first two pictures I prefer the one on the left. In the last picture, the one on the right.
I think the white-pinkish tile looks too washed out.

The warmth of your granite, backsplash, cabinets and the gold/tan tile look very pretty together.

Thanks, Enduring. I am thinking no on the warm floors unless they actually significantly warm the room, and I have heard that they take hours to do that. I don't mind cold flooring as much as I mind cold air. I am running into problems with the body dryers. Firstly, the Tornado (which is designed for the US) needs a corner and I am running out of them. Ideally, it goes in the shower and dries both you and the shower stall and curtain, but I have no corners there at all. I could put it in the entry to the bathroom if there is a 4" bit of wall past the corner where the room door slides out of the wall. Secondly the Vilaryo, made in Spain, is not wired for the US. Their Spanish rep says that we can just hardwire it into a 220 circuit. It appears to blow harder and warm the air to 26 degrees warmer than the surrounding air, not the 5 - 7 of the Tornado. It looks more substantial and professional and does not need a corner, but will take up some of my cabinet space next to the shower. So I will end up having a tall Valiryo next to a tall cabinet, instead of the two cabinet doors the same height as the chair rail that Michoumonster has put in place with beautiful walnut doors.I asked for a US referral and received an email from a lady in NYC who has one in her home. She has hers plugged into the wall, though she did not say if her electrician put in an European plug or changed the plug on the appliance to the American standard.She did get a warranty repair at a small cost to her. So once Jim gets here next Monday, I will ask him whether I have space on the panel for another 220 circuit, and what he thinks about a European appliance. I do have a 220 circuit right behind the closet in the bedroom where we are stealing that foot. It has a supplemental cove heating unit on the wall near the ceiling. This is a form of radiant heating that we put there for Dad. This is a corner bedroom and it gets drafty in the winter. If that is a 15 amp circuit, it may work for both the heater and the Valiryo. the Tornado's amperage may be too high, though.

It's your choice, but I don't care for the linear lines of the Latitude tile because of the linear lines in your vanity. Your other choice, Facade, goes better in my opinion. I even like the other two colors that it comes in, the grey and the taupe. Contrary vote for the lighter tile, although both are very good choices. Also posting to let you know how much I like the selections overall! The backsplash has just the right amount of color & texture!

Thank you. I had originally thought I would use the whitish tile with the multi brown mosaic - I had posted that a while back but after meeting with my granite/backsplash guy he bluntly & correctly told me that the white wouldn't give me the 'pop' I wanted because of my light cabs. He picked out these...and when I saw them against the granite in the store - I knew he was right. He drew it all out and I think it will really be different and great. I'd told him I wanted to hear "wow, I've never seen anything like that" as opposed to "oh, yeah, my neighbor/friend/etc has a backsplash just like that".

I like the darker one too. I think the lighter one disappears against the cabinets and will show the dirt more too. Can you tell I have light tile that I can't wait to get rid of? ;-)

I agree with everyone else. Darker tile. It almost matches some of the tile in your backsplash. It will be very pretty and give you the "pop" you want for your kitchen. Great choice!

Another question - the darker tile is a porcelain but not a 'full body'. Will that be a problem or should I try to find one similar that IS 'full body'? FWIW we're just 3 adults here w/o a lot of activity. So I doubt we'll be 'hard' on the floor.

I'll put in a vote for the darker stone, too. Not only will it contrast the cabinets nicely and show them up, it'll be much easier to keep it looking nice and clean!! :-)

Boy, if Bill doesn't know floor tile, I don't know who does!

I freaked out a little once I got the brown/gold floor tile ordered. I worried about it making the kitchen too dark. Number one, it didn't, it looks wonderful, and Number two, it is so much cleaner looking than the light tiles I had in many other houses. Go for the darker stone.
