To Stile and Save or No Stile and Spend?

I'm a week away from ordering stacked inset Medallion kitchen cabinets. The KD has designed four 42" wide cabinets (two/stacked) on either side of the 42" vent hood.

However these 42" wide inset cabinets must have a stile in the middle due to the width (leaving ~18" of uninterrupted space by the stile to place items).

I think that I would prefer two 30" wide biparting inset cabinets and two 12" cabinets on either side of the hood.(Together with their paired stacked cabinets above)

Unfortunately, this effectively doubles the number of cabinets flanking the hood...and nearly doubles the cost of the wall cabinets. (Also, the top cabinet is ~18" height, the bottom cabinet is ~30" height)

My question to all of you is -- Would you lose the stile and spend the money to 'gain' the open space behind/between the doors? (Any thoughts on why or why not are appreciated and give me food for thought. TX!!!)
