Seam location in granite counter thoughts
Comments (10)My fabricator discouraged me from placing it around the sink, said it would be weak because it was such a narrow strip. So we opted to have it over in the corner of the "L". Can you see it? Yeah, if you know where you are looking. Does it bother me? Not really. The granite that we selected is bold patterned and variable, so I think they did a pretty decent job of making it as inobtrusive as possible. I think you can help a bit with that in the templating process when you are selecting where each part of the larger slab will go. And if your granite has a more "uniform" pattern, I think it will be even less noticeable....See MoreRedroze's Granite install - Bad seams and all
Comments (37)The hot tamale train!!???!! That rocks Mrsandrews!!!!! Thank you. Which granite did you end up with?? I know, I know. I need to calm myself down before I freak out again. I mean, soon the appliances are going in, then window treatments. I can't post another "oh no, this is too XXX" everytime I frickin put something new in my kitchen!!! Thanks neesie! I didn't realize I was being too sensitive. To me, from a technical perspective, it just doesn't match up. I've seen some kick a$$ seams on GW where they match perfectly, and we had two big slabs for them to choose from, so I was just expecting that they could do a better job. But maybe my expectations are too high. And no, my mother-in-law has told me before, for goodness sakes, don't point out the flaws!! Thanks Patricia!!...See MoreGranite seam match issue should I ask for re-do
Comments (7)I was prepared for something really bad given your description. That isn’t it. That is not bad at all! Once you get your coffee machine and everything else on the counters, you will never notice a slight color change. The rest of the granite has some sections that have almost equal color shifts. It looks like a nice tight seam too! I could live with it, no problem. But, it’s your kitchen. Can you live with it. Sleep on it a couple of nights....See MoreCountertop help - granite seam separating
Comments (3)I am a fabricator. Seams don't disintegrate but occasionally, due to settling of the supporting structure, a seam can open up. From the pic it looks like the seam has pulled apart but, since it's not displaced vertically and the gap is small it would be an easy fix. I'd ask the fabricator to fix it; usually a good fabricator will do such follow-up for free....See Morekateskouros
