Countertop help - granite seam separating

caligirl5

Hi folks, wanted to ask some pro advice on my parents' granite seam. They remodeled their kitchen in 2016. Last Christmas, I noticed the seam at the sink had separated; my mom called her GC and the fabricator came back and redid both seams at the sink and cooktop. Now I'm home again...the sink seam looks fine, but the cooktop seam looks really bad. Almost like the seam has disintegrated. My mom thinks it's related to the house settling; I'm wondering about humidity levels (house is in North Carolina built in the early 1980s). Advice on what could be causing this and what to do about it?

Thanks in advance!
