Thanks weedmeister and rococogurl. I know I'm looking at something that is not traditionally done--that's my nature. This a machine made sink so it should not have the irregularities of a hand made sink. The edges are straight not curved like the Shaw sink. I saw one at the store the other day and that is what prompted the question. I guess I should pose this to my fabricator--he's used to my unusual questions. Still would love to hear other's thoughts. just wanted to commiserate with you on the plumbing problems. We have an old house were the plumbing was added later. They dug under one end of the house about 10x10 with an exterior entrance, and all the plumbing was put on that corner. We wanted to put in a bathroom closer to the bedrooms and move the kitchen, so we had to run the pipes under what would be the new bathroom floor. Kitchen sink had to be installed on the same wall as the bathroom sink, with the pipes and drain/venting going through the wall into the bathroom cabinet, then down into the floor. As it was, the distance was almost too long for the drop and to still be able to hook up to the outgoing line. That would have required a lift pump in the cellar, not something we wanted to consider. This is the bathroom side of the wall. If we ever have problems, our cheapest solution will be to hand dig a trench under the bathroom to access the pipes. Hope that never happens. I don't think we would have room for a garbage disposal either, as the drain goes into the wall and then down. Since we have a septic system, doing without a disposal was not a hard choice.

They are in FL; I know them, I'm sure they do as good a job as anyone could, but acrylic is acrylic. ETA I looked into their sinks very thoroughly for a friend who wanted a 20s sink for a 20s cottage. Options are very limited now, and I expect you are also likely to have trouble with the cast iron from Signature, so unless you get really lucky with a vintage one, it's a case of pick your poison, I guess.

Often, a topmount sink is an either/or sink and can be topmounted or undermounted. I happen to like topmount sinks mounted as undermounts because the faucet attaches to the sink rather than penetrating the granite. That sink deck is a nice place to sit the dish soap bottle, etc., keeping it off the stone. I have seen a lot of stone tops that were damaged from residual soap leaching the color out of the top.
