Chrome or brushed nickel ?
Comments (10)I love chrome and went with Kohler in my shower and Hansgrohe for the sinks. I will tell you that the chrome in the shower wipes clean with no spotting and the Hansgrohe does not wipe clean as easily. For my second bathroom I'm doing Hansgrohe in the shower (I love the valve that they have...it's a 3-in-one and is already installed) and will have to deal with any cleaning issues. I'm not sure which faucet I will go with for that sink. I think that no matter what the finish, or the manufacturer...they all clean up (and last) differently. Having said all this...I love the look of the choices that I made for my MB....See More4'' vs. 6'' can lights in kitchen
Comments (9)While I agree that led retrofit lamps do not suffer significantly from light being trapped within the lamp like standard bulb types in a can (the fixture is never 100% efficient), I would hesitate to use a 4" LED recessed lamp as the light output is less than a 6". In addition, the advertised claim of "light output equivalent to 40 watt bulb" is reminiscent of extravagant claims that have been made (and still being made) for CFL and a number of LED products. If engineered correctly, there is little reason why 4" LED recessed lights cannot surpass the 6" LED recessed lights. To me, good 4" recessed lamps today continue to command a premium over 6" recessed lamps which themselves command a premium over other LED and other bulbs (- CFL, etc), which make them less practical ($$ wise)....See MoreKohler Vinnata vs Kohler Simplice & Finishes
Comments (3)Thank you hestia_flames! In the mean time, I did go to a local plumbing store and looked at three models that I am considering: * Price Pfister Ashfield * Delta Allore * Kohler Vinnata The Price Pfister looks beautiful and more traditional with a lovely tulip shaped spray head, but the spout was cheap and thin. While the price is attractive ($281) I could see a dent in the display and can only imagine what a big stainless steel pot pushed up against the faucet would do. The Delta Allore is much more sturdy and has the magnet clasp for the spray head. I wasn't wild about its looks; I think it was a bit too contemporary for me. I could get the Delta Allore with 10% off, so it came in at $360, which is reasonably priced. The Kohler Vinnata is beautiful, I guess I'll need to shop around because they quoted me $561 as the contractor's discount for the stainless steel. I have checked the local craigslist every day, but haven't seen one yet in my area :-(. I wasn't able to see the Simplice, but my son saw it at Home Depot and said it wasn't good quality at all. The Moen Woodmere has all the same features as the Vinnata plus the stop button. I haven't seen it in person. I have seen the Vinnata on Ebay, but in the chrome finish for around $369. Of course, the stainless is at least $100 more. I've probably over analyzed the faucet situation. The local plumbing store had never heard of the Moen Woodmere, which I wanted to see in person. It appears that GWers know more about what's going on in terms of faucets. Go figure......See MoreAndersen Renewal vs Starmark Windows
Comments (20)Thanks for your response. Yes, I was going to have a color coating on the exterior, and I don't foresee needing to remove them except for cleaning, (although we do go out one bedroom window that is on a sloped roof area to put up Christmas lights and to clean a gutter). Because they would be exposed all year, I thought that cleaning them yearly might be a good idea, and that I would want to be able to take them out and reinstall them without a problem. Is the color on the exterior color coating somewhat susceptible to wearing off with time due to the elements?...See Morededtired
