Comments (5)I didn't bring home a 4" Sylvania, but I can provide a comparison to the RT6. I, too, prefer the 3000k color over the Ecosmart/CREE 2700k color. Both dim well down to very low levels, using cheap incandescent dimmers. The RT6 has a short turn-on delay, in the range of 1/2 second. No deal breaker, but not as instant as the CREE. I ended up going with the cheaper 6" Ecosmart (I do think 4" looks better). Partly for the cost, and partly for the instant on, and partly because I can get brighter 6" LEDs in the areas I need (island, sink), and use the cheaper 575 lumen ones elsewhere. Since I have to meet California Title 24 for the kitchen, part of the higher cost was that Sylvania charges $8 for an adapter (cost of manufacture ~ 12 cents) to go from their connector to a GU24 socket. Either one is a good choice, in my opinion....See Morekitchen backsplash 6x6 vs 4x4 vs subway tiles
Comments (6)Regarding the grout, if you're doing a grout color that is in line with the color(s) in the tile it shouldn't look too busy in any size. I saw a stunning photo the other day of a pretty busy granite, light splash tiles and super dark grout so it doesn't all have to be super muted to blend. As for what the lady said, if you love the 6x6 more than the others, do it. I have short splash on both walls of my kitchen due to cabs and a window so 6x6 would never work but I like the looks of them and didn't realize it was a trend, but what do I know? It's not like squares are some fancy new, trendy shape. ;) Maybe someone else will have better advice on that. Here is a link below. Comments (3)Hi David Ideally, I would like to either go with all 4" or 6" cans. I was persuaded not to use 4" cans as the light output might not be sufficient for 10' ceilings. I am leaning towards Cree CR6 lamps (3000K, 800L, with Legrand Adorne dimmer switch), if I do decide to go with 6" cans or CR4 for 4". My electrician recomends a generic brand (Electric Zone, 3000K, 1200L). With UCL, would the cans still need to be placed within countertop edge (25.5" in my case)? I visited a few lighting stores locally and almost all of them placed the lights (cans) in a grid pattern over the walkways, which is contrary to what the correct practice should be as highlighted in the houzz and garden web forums. I am attempting to get a good lighting balance balance and not over do it. Appreciate the help and guidance....See MoreHelp! Light spread of 4" vs 6 " LED recessed cans?
Comments (2)Rantontoo, Each manufacturer should list this information for their product. It is usually in the specifications for the lights. I am just using Contrast lighting as an example. They listed it as Specification on the particular fixture. Light spread information: See page 5 and the table named light cone describes how the light spreads at different heights based on the fixture. Something similar should be available for your lighting manufacturer. Good luck!...See MoreDavid
