Kohler Vinnata vs Kohler Simplice & Finishes

I'm going crazy trying to figure out what faucet to buy. There are just too many of them. I like the looks and functionality of the Vinnata, but noticed that the Simplice is quite a bit less. I'm wondering if the extra $100 for the Vinnata is worth it or not.

Also, what is the difference between the stainless steel and brushed nickel finish?

I have a Vinnata, and like it very much. I looked up the Simplice for you, and it appears to have one advantage, and one disadvantage, over the Vinnata. The Vinnata will rotate its head to point the spray in a different direction (with not pulling it down) while the Simplice has a "pause" button in its head, which I wish the Vinnata had. Color wise, the Vibrant Stainless is sort of a soft glowing silver, while a nickel finish usually has more yellow to the cast of the metal.

If you can afford what you want in a faucet, you should get it. You will probably use the faucet more than any other item in your kitchen. I purchased my sink and faucet second hand (Vinnata Vibrant Stainless) and am very, very happy to have all the features. Wish it did have that pause button, though! (But if I had to choose between the aiming capability and the on/off button, I would choose the aiming.)

I have the Vinnata in the brushed nickel. I love the finish. Here's a close-up pic from my finished kitchen photos (my thread with the link is a page or two back by now, I imagine). The other faucet in the pic is the Kohler beverage faucet, Wellspring.

I don't recall the name or model number - but I bought the top of the line Kohler a couple of years ago because two previous faucets had plastic parts or covers & pieces broke off with just normal usage. I went to Lowe's & asked the salesman for a faucet that had NO plastic parts - he showed me the Kohler & although pricey I bought it & love it. You do not have to hold down the spray button feature on this model it stays as a spray until you change it.

And I had thought that hot water dispensers were expensive, now when I check with my kitchen person on the oil rubbed bronze finish, that is even more $$. I guess I will be spending the next few days searching online for a cheaper one :-)

What color are your cabinets? What finish(es) is(are) the rest of your plumbing fixtures? (Soap dispenser, air switch, air gap, etc.) Right now, everything sounds pretty dark...almost too dark. I think I would prefer the contrast of SS or brushed nickel. Do you have any pics of your samples of cabinets + countertop + BS + hardware? Is the sink a brushed/satin SS or polished? I seem to recall a year or two ago there was at least one thread about issues w/ORB finishes in general on often-used items (hardware, faucets, etc.)...but I don't remember the details. Perhaps someone who remembers or saved the thread(s) will chime in (or correct me if it was, for example, a particular manufacturer's finish & not ORB overall). BTW...the salesperson probably wants to sell the faucet...I would not necessarily trust him/her...but that's true of all salespeople!

Thank you hestia_flames! In the mean time, I did go to a local plumbing store and looked at three models that I am considering:

* Price Pfister Ashfield
* Delta Allore
* Kohler Vinnata

The Price Pfister looks beautiful and more traditional with a lovely tulip shaped spray head, but the spout was cheap and thin. While the price is attractive ($281) I could see a dent in the display and can only imagine what a big stainless steel pot pushed up against the faucet would do.

The Delta Allore is much more sturdy and has the magnet clasp for the spray head. I wasn't wild about its looks; I think it was a bit too contemporary for me. I could get the Delta Allore with 10% off, so it came in at $360, which is reasonably priced.

The Kohler Vinnata is beautiful, I guess I'll need to shop around because they quoted me $561 as the contractor's discount for the stainless steel.

I have checked the local craigslist every day, but haven't seen one yet in my area :-(. I wasn't able to see the Simplice, but my son saw it at Home Depot and said it wasn't good quality at all.

The Moen Woodmere has all the same features as the Vinnata plus the stop button. I haven't seen it in person. I have seen the Vinnata on Ebay, but in the chrome finish for around $369. Of course, the stainless is at least $100 more.

I've probably over analyzed the faucet situation. The local plumbing store had never heard of the Moen Woodmere, which I wanted to see in person. It appears that GWers know more about what's going on in terms of faucets. Go figure...
