Thanks david - did you ever find your Shakespeare's Country ironstone? I saw a set of 54 pieces (think it was missing some bowls b/c it had sugar, creamer, 2 platters) in antique store in Collinsville CT this w/e for $99. Don't remember where you are - but that seemed a pretty good price compared to eBay (esp. with shipping) if you were looking for a whole set.

If you find a place that actually *sells* this MW/toaster, let me know, I'll do the same for you - thanks!

Oops - I just measured the MW I want to replace (2 yrs old) and it's almost the same size, I was looking for something smaller (since it's not worth replacing just to save toaster counter space). Anybody else know of something smaller? Like a foot deep, maybe even 9 inches high (height doesn't matter as much as depth - I'm trying to shove it back farther in the corner so I have more counter in front, width smaller than 22" would help too)?

I think you'll find plain microwaves that size, but any with any kind of radiant/convection function are going to be bigger. I looked for ages for a tiny convection micro before giving up.

Still, who knows? People here come up with all sorts of things nobody else seems to be able to find. :)

the one I posted was a toaster (vertical slices) next to a MW, all in one housing.

Sharp and Rival have both had them in the past, but there don't seem to be any right now. Still, with the popularity of "morning kitchens" perhaps they'll make a comeback for bedroom use.

I found a couple more on this site - the 0.8 cf sounds interesting, the 0.5 cf might be a little small and underpowered. Neither of them is that much smaller than the LG. Nothing like my little old GE...

Hi, ajsmama. Based on davidro1's post I thought you wanted something like the breakfast centers that have a coffeemaker and a toaster next to each other in one appliance as opposed to a microwave that toasts.

No - don't want to have coffeemaker/toaster, just MW/toaster oven would be nice. I once had a coffeemaker/espressomaker (side by side) - the coffeemaker gave up the ghost, after fixing a cold solder joint once and then it died again I took a hacksaw to it, but we never really used the espressomaker (just as easy to put little pot we got in Italy on the stove, back when we had coils), so I gave that to Salvation Army.

Now, if the toaster part gave out, I'd still use the MW (or vice versa) for a while, but don't really want a side-by-side Frankenstein thing. Rather have it integrated. Found this - 0.6 cf might be a little small, but given the smaller footprint may be worth it. I'd have to measure my plates to see if we could reheat leftovers on 10.5" turntable. 8" height (if that's from turntable to top interior of oven) should be high enough for a mug, too, w/o banging it and splashing hot coffee as you lift it out.

No, sorry I wasn't clear. I knew you didn't want a coffee maker. I just used that as an example of a two-appliances-side-by-side-in-the-same-box. :)

The Rival does look handy, and if you're not in a hurry I do think the tendency to bedroom breakfast setups means you're likely to see some new models like that in the near future from other manufacturers.

I considered this Daewoo...I don't have a good link, but you could do a search for Daewoo KOG-867T9. It is 1,000 watts and measures 23 x 11.75 x 16.6...However, the toaster is on the side, so it really isn't a toaster "oven". The reviews are fairly decent, and I would have gotten it, but my MW shelf is only 15" deep...somewhat of a challenge, but I did find one to fit. I think this Daewoo looks real nice tho.

ajsmama- the kitchen is finished except for hardware. We've been cooking in it for 2 weeks now. I still have to finish painting the trim in the dining area and LR and put another coat of paint on the walls...It may have to wait til fall, as we own our own biz and are BUSY. Anyway, I lost much sleep over some things and ended up very sick for 6 weeks, so the process took almost a month longer than I wanted. There are things I wish I had done differently, but the improvement is great over what I had. I know you were interested in the staggered height cabinets, so I will try to post some pics soon!

david - saw this in TOH, too big for me but I thought you might be interested - if we ate pizza more often I might be! I *may* stop by Sear appliance store (small) near the grocery store this week to see if they have a display, and ask if it really toasts. Looks like it's on sale too!
