This year's 'Blue Moon' wisteria pics
Comments (14)I am new to the forum (and gardening on my own, for that matter!) and have been doing a lot of reading here! Does anyone know where i can purchase wisteria in CNY or online? I'm not even sure which variety i should choose, but here's my situation...my grandmother has always fancied wisteria. She has one in her garden at home but it has never bloomed. Our family owns some secluded land with a cabin on it that she used to garden regularly, 15 years ago it looked like a well manicured state park. Now, i am 25 and my grandma is 75. To her great pleasure, i have always taken interest in learning from her and continuing everything she has done on our family's land now that she cannot (she has RA and is not nearly as mobile most days). Recently while the two of us were discussing my engagement and eventual wedding (which will take place on our land that we call "the hill"), she told me how beautiful it would be if we were married under the arbor up there if it were covered in wisteria. I would love to make this a reality for her, since she is not in good health these days and she is very dear to my heart. However, all these stories about wisteria never blooming has really dampened my spirits, and furthermore, i can't even find a place to buy it! Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated. Additional Info: -space is not an issue up there/nor will be lack of attention -i can winterize the vine if needed -looking for cutting from old, reliable flowering plant -cost not an issue -the 'arbor' in question is extremely sturdy (more like a small pergola, if you ask me) so that shouldn't be an issue, either. -we have not 'set a date' for the wedding yet, but are tentatively planning on late spring 2012, so early (**crosses fingers**) dare i ask for-prolific blooming is most important! I WILL delay my wedding for those flowers!!! Haha...See MoreShow me your Volga Blue seams, please
Comments (11)The seams were improved with the second installation. The fabricator decided to completely redo all of the granite with new slabs of Volga Blue. Seams were tighter the second time around, though I'd only give it a grade of "B". I decided it was good enough, and I really don't notice the seams after having lived with it for nearly a year. So sorry that you're in the same situation. You might ask the fabricator to show you how he/she could improve the seams using a scrap piece of your granite, before allowing a redo or fix. Comments (15)the only time i think a trend might be an issue is if you buy something because it's 'trendy' and you don't really know what you do and don't like... i once bought a pair of mauve wing chairs-not because i liked pink-but because the loveseat i bought on a really great sale had the 'trendy' colors in it of mauve and blue flowers on ivory backround- a very pretty fabric. so, i had navy drapes made and needed 2 wing chairs and the friend i was with suggested a certain fabric---it all looked really nice together. BUT, ordinarily, i WOULD NEVER HAVE BOUGHT PINK CHAIRS!! i learned alot from that experience--about sales and trends!!! there are always 'trends'... and, it's ok to buy 'trendy'- but you should be sure you really like something if it's furniture or tile, etc...paint trends are easier to change!! i put a marble and glass mosaic in our master bath which i really like... yes, someday you might not see as much of it as you currently do, but bottom line is -i like it!! if you love blue, go for it! if you love glass tile, go for it! but, if you're not sure of your taste or if it's important to you to follow the latest color trend, go neutral/white with the tile/granite so that in 3 years you can paint your bathroom coral, pale yellow,or peach or whatever might be most stylish then!...See MoreLemurian Blue paired with Volga Blue?
Comments (15)Have you gotten a sample of the Lemurian Blue to take home and look at in your space? The reason I ask is, when I was looking for bathroom vanity counter, I found a great remnant piece that had iridescent blue flecks in it that I really loved (I don't know the specific variety, not necessarily the same as yours, just know it had the iridescent blue bits). But, when I got the sample piece home, I discovered that in my bathroom, in the indoor lighting, you couldn't see the iridescence at all. It just looked like plain dull mousy brown stone. I had to take it outside in the natural light, and hold it at an angle (just like it had been standing on its edge outside in the granite yard) to see that beautiful iridescence again. So, that's a long roundabout way of saying, don't fall in love and plan a whole look around something that might not be what you imagine. Definitely get a sample and see what it looks like in your space, with typical daytime and evening lighting....See Moresuzanne_sl
