Anybody using touchless faucets?
Comments (7)We have these in one of my workplaces, and they don't work flawlessly. The operatory sinks will sometimes not go on even if you are waving your hands like crazy. Then they will go on spontaneously at full blast when you aren't anywhere close. There is no manual override. The toilets do not flush automatically all the time either. However, they do have a separate push button, luckily. One restroom though, every single toilet or urinal would flush as you walked through the room: I used to skirt the wall trying to see if I could get by without it happening....See MoreDo you love your touchless kitchen faucet?
Comments (17)I have had a Moen Arbor Motionsense for 4 years (I think it is 4 years I got it the year they came out). I love it!! For me the only problem is the handle has come a bit loose and I was given some replacement parts (free fix for known issue) but it is loose again. I think I read somewhere that was a problem with the early ones and maybe I can even get it replaced. I need to call them again. The other problem is when I catch myself at another sink use the laundry sink holding my hands under the faucet waiting for the water to come on! Visitors someitmes are gotten unexpectedly by the lower sensor. It can be easily shut off. But I have learned to work around it - if I'm scrubbing a pot I turn the faucet to the side a little when I don't want water do it doesn't get me. My father does the dishes whenever he visits and has been gotten a few times. I got wet myself a few times in the beginning,, I am planning a new kitchen now and plan to put in 2 similar faucets as I will have a prep sink too and will definitely want the sensor there (perfect for hand washing, and washing single pieces of produce under running water, rinsing a spoon or other kitchen tool). If I had to pick a place for the sensor faucet I think I'd go with prep. It is so handy for the hands in process, rinse tools etc. although I also use it for a quick splash before loading the dishwasher. But prep is key as you want to be safe food handling then and the hands free faucet is perfect for that. But I'd strongly suggest two so you don't wait, for the other to turn on! You a get trained for it fast. I had some interest in the Kohler Sensate due to my handle coming loose issue with the Moen. But I can reuse this one and just buy one if I stay with it. Plus I think I'd miss the lower faucet sensor. That is the one I almost always use versus the wave the hand over the top (which is I believe how the Kohler works as the only sensor). Yes some people get wet by mistake with the lower sensor but it is just so logical for hand washing, washing an apple etc......See MoreFor folks who have had both touch-less and touch-on kitchen faucets...
Comments (42)None of these scare stories have happened to me. I’ve had mine for almost 2 years. I leave it set on medium hot. If you need to adjust the temp, you can always at least clean your hands first, then move the lever to change temp. I pretty much only need to change it if I want cold water for coffee pot, etc, in which case my hands aren’t dirty! Ours has never turned itself on. I can’t understand why so many people who have never tried one are so negative. If you cook, you get dirty hands and it’s a great feature. It is very simple to use manually if you prefer. It turns itself off automatically after a few minutes, so no risk of it overflowing or something....See Moretouchless faucets
Comments (22)@CD if it was actually running, and in the "on" position, then yes it would keep running until you manually turn it to the "off" position. But if it's in the "on" position and not actually running when the power goes out, then it does not turn on by itself. You won't have any water come out until you manually turn it "off" and then use it like a manual faucet - until of course the power comes back on. And to clarify, mine doesn't have a touch feature - it's a touchless hand wave. One other thing: I did get a Delta bathroom that was either touchless or touch on/off, and I ended up returning it because it said right in the instructions that it would not work at all without power....See Morejulia42
