Any tea drinkers? Awesome tea storage cabinet from Etsy

I realized after moving into my kitchen that I did not incorporate a good place to store all my tea. Fortunately, Etsy came to the rescue. I ordered an awesome custom-made storage cabinet which just came today and I LOVE it already. Just thought I would share in case there are any other tea drinkers on this site who might be interested!

This is the seller who I ordered from and I based my cabinet on this one except designed to fit in my space. Mine was smaller and cost about 1/2 this much.

I have to get jelly jars to use here, that's what is supposed to be in there because they fit perfectly. In the meantime, I just have my tea tin from the store:

Bitter is usually too long of extraction so try reducing your extraction time. Can you adjust the grind & tamp pressure? Generally you want a grind+tamp that results in about 9-12 seconds from initial pressure to espresso first coming out and then 20-25 seconds of pour for a total extraction time of 30-35 seconds. These all vary by bean, roast and batch so if you cannot adjust them then finding a bean & roast that most often results in these might be your only option. Keep in mind that these Miele machines do not maintain the pressures and temperatures of regular espresso machines nor do they use a proper tamped puck so it's difficult/impossible to get a good shot from them. For a semi-automatic a Breville Oracle (regular or touch) is a better option.

Betty, I LOVE the pink tablecloth in your tea setting. If you hadn't told us, I wouldn't have known it was plastic. It is such a pretty colour and goes so well with your beautiful dishes. What I find particularly appealing (besides sweet Hanna and the yummy food!) are the candlestick holders you used...I love candles of all sorts and those are great. Are they crystal? BIG HUG to everyone who shared about losing their parents. I feel ya! The problem with losing a parent as an adult is not that one misses or needs parenting, it's losing the history and shared memories that is so difficult, at least for me. And then like Funky says, my mother was such an optimist, joie de vive person, and then she died on a most ordinary day, doing a most ordinary thing and there was no happy ending/rescue to be found. I try and appease my sorrow by continuing on with her traditions. I can't hardly have tea in the afternoon though, because my Mom died at tea time. I know that she was probably planning on making herself a cuppa after unloading those groceries, looking forward to it . . . but anyway, teatime is such a strong tradition in my Mom's family, all the kids of all her cousins tell me the same thing, they have all these memories of teatime . . . We had a memorial tea at the library after Mom's funeral (she was the librarian there) and when I got married in 2018 it was just outside of the area where the family farms were, and we had tea in all their honor. One of my Mom's few remaining cousins gifted me with a teapot that my Grandmother had given her as a wedding present. Then ironically my own cousin died a month later of a massive stroke. I still am haunted by her saying that one thing she wanted to do with me was have tea on Grandma's tea set. Never got to do it, although we did have many teas together. I hope this spring I can find at least one relative willing to have tea with me . . . they are far flung now, I doubt any would come to my house, they never ever have, even when my Mom was alive. Only my beloved cousin would visit . . .

That's why I think bar trucks that visited neighborhoods like the ice cream truck offering fru fru cocktails would be a great idea. And there would be no worries about the patrons drinking and driving home at least . . . Bars did do truck visits (also including food) to one of my friend's suburban Lancaster neighborhoods during the pandemic last summer. Not sure if that was a one time exception or if it could legally be a thing . . . I know they have traveling bars on the NJ beaches . . . I'm always trying to parse the best alcoholic bang for my buck, weighing quality, flexibility, and in my case, irritability. I usually only had vodka on hand, as it has the least amines for urinary tract and headaches, but now whiskey and brandy are supposedly the least irritating to the gut, along with various expensive aperitifs. I wish I could afford a good pear brandy, it would be an awesome mixer. It hits all my notes except cost . . . at one time I investigated pear wine for the same reason . . . now too many calories on both . . .

weimom it can hold boxes of tea (I have my extra Numi boxes in there since I get that from Amazon Subscribe and Save and order 3 boxes at a time). It can also hold miscellaneous tea bags like if you get a sampler pack or something and don't want to put them all in one sleeve.

I am so happy to have this. I love having fancy teas and a vast assortment and they were always such a mess before! I looked for a long time for a good method of storing and this is the coolest one I've found!

Thanks so much for sharing this unique storage unit! I love tea (hence my user name)--especially good loose tea. I've never seen anything like it but now it is in my wish book!

I think I will check into this also. When I packed up my kitchen to store during my remodel I had an entire packing box with just my teas. I also have a lot of loose teas so not sure what I would do with those but this is perfect for tea bags and those cans of tea.

Oops, sorry I see that the jelly jars are used for loose tea. Did you have yours custom made? The link showed a larger one that is really nice but very $$$

Yes I had mine made by the seller at that link. Mine is smaller and I think I paid like $225 or $250. I figure it is one of those one time investments and a reasonable price to have a custom-made solid wood tea cabinet

Did you just contact the seller and ask him to design it for you? I am very interested in this. I like the size and price of yours much better!

I love the tins some teas come in. Jelly jars are brilliant (on the maker's part! Good thinking!) but if the tins fit, too, it's even cooler. These days, most are boxes, of course.

In my vitamin cabinet, i.e. a 12" w upper cab next to my sink, I've taken all my big fat vitamin bottles and changed them into tall, thin caper jars. I can store more on my lazy Susan because it's vertical. UP is the way to go! :)

You know, I think you have a little heirloom happening there. How very pretty. And smart!

This is perfect, I have so many teas, and it's so messy to place it everywhere, I think this one could be really helpful and keep the place nice and tidy, thanks for sharing.

We drink a lot of tea and it's very pretty but we do loose tea and triangular tea bags so it wouldn't work well. We buy tea specifically for each type. I store the teas in air tight containers.
