Here is a picture of the wine fridge I bought months ago before dry wall and the next picture is the completed drywall no wine fridge. ALSO We are building new cabinets and moving the sink in the center of that window so the space to the right will be less than it is in the picture. There will be a cabinet up above the counter just like on the left of the sink with glass in it.

We have a wine fridge and love the look of one. It's just cool to have. Now, ours has shelves for wine and a shelf for soda and water. We felt we'd get more use out of it for the soda and water storage so we ordered an extra shelf and took out one of the wine shelfs. It only gets to 47 degrees so the soda isn't as cold as the main fridge, but it's nice to have the extra room for soda and water and for the wine. Also, ours has a light inside which is kind of nice to turn on at night. I like the wine refrigerators for their looks and utility. I'd keep it..I think you'll enjoy it!

They really our pretty aren't they. :) This one has a light in it too. This kitchen isn't very big and I just don't know if I will regret not having the cabinet space. I also have another space off to the side under the stairs that I could put it in at a later date. We could do a full little bar there and it's across from the kitchen table where the serving table is now. Oh I hate making decisions.

Is it actually going to be inside a cabinet or on the side of the bank of cabinets? Make sure if it is going inside a cabinet that it is the right kind of wine fridge for it. Otherwise if it is outside the cabs I think it will still look great. I think it is just cool to have one.

OMG I want to edit that post and put "are" not "our". My two year old is tugging at me while I'm typing. DUH! I meant they are pretty. GEEZ!

It's a built in that goes in the cabinets. I'm going to slide it right in and it will look totally built in.

We have a wine fridge your size that we out grew, but I refused to get rid of it. So, it hold Diet Coke and Water! It's grand. Also, when you say you don't drink white do you drink red? Red should be stored around 56ish degrees and climate controlled, so your little wine fridge may still get some use!

Oh, I also think it looks pretty and you should keep it! hehehe

we don't drink "too much" white wine, but like sfcitydweller said, we keep all of our red in ours. we love it. i guess i would say, if you need the storage space, then get a cabinet or drawers instead. if you don't, go for the wine fridge!!!! besides, when your reno is over, you will be drinking a lot!

Are you possibly thinking about selling the home in the future? If so, does the other homes in the area have a wine frig?

Of course, it is your kitchen, and if you really want it because it is pretty you should get it.

But I probably wouldn't pay good money and give up valuable storage space for an appliance you really don't need, and probably won't really use. Do you think you'll be glad you did it, or regret it, six months after your kitchen is finished. If you think you'll be glad, then do it.

My KD wanted to put in a wine fridge in our kitchen, and I thought about it because it looked "high end" and looked nice, etc., but I didn't do it because I knew that we barely store wine at all.

I have to agree with jeannie kitchen. I have a wine cooler/beverage center. I roux the day we purchased it. It has been nothing but a "PITA". Sure it looks cool, has double doors LED light, stores soda, water, beer on one side, wine on the other. But is also very noisy and does not keep a constant temperature. Already had to have a service man to look at it....what a joke. Spent too much $$$. Could have put a small fridge in the garage and went with more storage. Everytime I look at it, I see a space that I could have used in a better way. JMO

Definitely a different perspective. We are surrounded by wine country, have been in the wine industry and are big wine drinkers. Our remodel did not include room for a wine cellar so our compromise was a custom built-in in our dining room - open concept so kitchen and dining room flow right into each other - flanked by 2 wine refrigerators. One is a full length and the other is wine on top two drawers fridge on the bottom. THose are for kids beverages and beer. We love them - they are beautiful to look at and serve an absolute need for us - they are full and we just moved in.

We are mostly red wine drinkers and red wine stored needs to be kept at 54-56 for optimum storage.

All that said - I would not use the space for something if I did not personally need it for looks only. Function is always number one for me.

I fell in love with a Sonoma Cast Stone 4 ft sink I "thought" was functional - only to find out for the VERY first time AFTER it was installed that it needs to be sealed every month - and not used for 2-3 days after sealing with some awful stuff that you need gloves and a mask to apply (yeah right - that is "green") - and no boiling water can be poured in the sink at all - ever. SO no pasta water etc. TG I have a prep sink near my stove. I am not sealing it and have no idea what that means in terms of wear but I have chemical allergies and I do not need to mess with toxic sealers.

My point - it is gorgeous but it doesn't make up for the fact that I see it everyday and think what a waste of space for something non-functional.

pvcamom-The beverage center is a Vinotemp-VT38. IMHO it is a "POS". Gotta say, it sure looks cool, but I think a set of drawers would have served me better, and been less expensive. Hope you did not order a Vinotemp. HTH
