Samsung Fridge: Need solenoid part number

Hello I'm new to this website and hopefully someone could help me. Here's a little info of my fridge:

Brand: Samsung

Model: RS267LASH

Bom Name: RS267LASH/XAA

Quick Summary:

Looking for part # and where I could purchase the solenoid attached to the water inlet valve (part#DA74-40149D to the water inlet valve)

What I'm looking for is the part number and where I can purchase a solenoid which is attached to the water inlet valve.

Here is the sources I have tried with no success.

-Owners manual

-Official Samsung website parts/accessories and also have tried their Live chat

-Called the number provided by Samsung representative and they were unable to provide any details and insisted to send a technician out to my house with a charge which I declined.

-Tried entering manufactures part number that the solenoid is attached to with no luck.

-Looked at a blue print of my fridge on a website but the solenoid wasn't present.

I have basically looked all over the internet for 8 hours and no luck. The solenoid has a 3 pin molex connection if I'm correct with the type of connection and has wheel paddle within. This solenoid is attached to the water inlet valve part# DA74-40149D. I do have pictures of what exactly I'm looking for and if you would like a few pictures of the solenoid message me and I will be more than happy to send them.

If you need more information about the fridge or anything else please contact me. Thank you very much for your help.

d8mian, I have no idea about this part, unfortunately.

I'm wondering, though, if you buy the blue thing in your photo (that the part you want is attached to), does the solenoid maybe come with it?

That would explain why you can't buy just the solenoid separately. Otherwise, this makes no sense to me.

I don't see anybody jumping in, so maybe I can help get a conversation started for you. GE had pretty significant reliability and parts problems with its fridges when it started contracting out (outsourcing), but it has brought much of its production back to the US a few years ago. CR's survey data shows that GE is now no less (and no more) reliable than most other brands of SxS models. In our area, GE also cut back on the number of dealers it works with and seems to be concentrating on the highest-volume retailers and big-box stores. Some friends bought one of the large new GE SxS models a month or so ago -- I think it is the one rated for 29 cut. ft. -- and say they are very pleased with its features and capacity. Something to else to bear in mind is that rated capacity is often overstated. Supposedly 25 to 28 cu. ft. SxS fridges sometimes turn out to have no more than 18 cu. ft. of actual capacity. Capacity is affected by the size of the through-the-door ice and water dispensers and some of the larger capacity models have two ice makers. If memory serves, CR rated the Whirlpool and Samsung SxS models as having more usable capacity than other brands with similar capacity claims. Samsung models have separate evaporators for the freezer and fridge compartments. Not the same as having completely separate compressors and cooling systems (ala Sub Zero) but still something of a marketing leg up because of the theoretical advantages. When I was fridge shopping, it seemed that the jury was still out on whether the separate evaporators made much practical difference. Doesn't the biggest Samsung SxS have an external display screen that connects to the internet or you smart phone or displays photos or something? Strikes me one more thing to fail. cascade to other circuitry and interfere with the primary functions. FWIW, some friend have had a Samsung 26 cu. ft. FYI: Samsung french door fridge with ice and water in door

Hello all, My wife and I ordered a Maytag Ice2O FD fridge a month or so ago (for a very good price), but were never really thrilled with how the fridge looked - don't like the appearance of the ice/water dispenser. What we did like was the freezer drawers. We loved that the drawers are not wire baskets, and that they both come out when the freezer is opened. After hearing of many problems with the circuit boards on the Ice2O, we diceided to look into other brands. As our other appliances will be mostly GE, we were looking at some GE FD fridges. The PFSS6PKWSS seemed to be the best of the bunch, including the new models with 2 separate freezer drawers. We noticed that on some of the fridges, the deli drawer smacks right into the french doors if the doors are not completely open (which we will not be able to do due to a wall on one side of the fridge). The PFSS6PKWSS has a deli drawer that opens up with the french doors open 90 degrees, but my wife was upset that the shelves did not pull forward like on the Ice2O. We knew that Samsung makes the PFSS6PKWSS for GE, and found the Samsung RF267AARS at a Best Buy to look at. We verified that the interiors are exactly the same, except for clear plastic bins on the french doors (they are white on the GE). After pretty much deciding to stick with the Ice2O because of the pull-out shelves, we happened to tug on one of the Samsung fridge shelves and voila! It slid forward, a few inches farther than the Ice2O shelves even! I think we have decided to go ahead and cancel our Ice2O order, and go with the Samsung RF267AARS. So, you Samsung owners out there, how have the fridges been working, how quiet are they, and do you had any complaints about them? Thanks for any replies.

I have a Samsung. I was told my several people at the store, repairmen, and consumer reports online that some of the LGs have a problem where the light inside does not turn off when the door is closed, and if you don't notice for a while, the fridge can actually start to melt and burn. Fire in the fridge - terrible idea. I LOVE my Samsung. It is the highest rated fridge by Consumer Reports (or was, when I bought it). The only thing to mention is that some of the early Samsungs had ice issues. They have "fixed it", but if you are the type of person who requires a cooler full of ice every so often, its not going to make enough. Also, you can sometimes hear the ice fall. These things don't bother me at ALL - I use a normal amount of ice, and the kitchen is across the house from the bedroom so I don't hear it. If you DO take out all the ice at once, you want to put a cup up to it and ask it for ice a few times - to remind it that it needs to make more. I never did that on my old fridge, but its not that big of a problem for me. After you remind it that its empty, it makes lots of ice plenty fast for me. I LOVE the Samsung though, and I would recommend it to anyone. It is the best appliance purchase I have ever made, and I have replaced every appliance in this house at least twice.

The standard size for any full sized fridge is (almost) 36" W x (almost)70" H. The reason I say almost, is that they are all made to go into a 36" x 70" space in your cabinetry because they all breathe out the front. No more coils in the back that need ventilation. Now, there are a few that are a skosh taller, like a Maytag that's 71", but that's not usually a problem because the cabinet above the fridge's bottom alignment height should be 72" and any gap filled in with light rail or filler. So, even though Samsung's size was misstated on the website, the actual size of the fridge you're dealing with will be pretty much the same unless you go with something other than a full sized fridge like a 33" wide one. And, most fridges that get cabinet surrounds are perfectly fine with a 36" x 70" opening--and they are all constructed with the same type of ventilation as the Samsung. That leads me to believe that their 1" space requirements are CYA type rather than actually truly needed. Of course, it's not my fridge or my kitchen, but I personally wouldn't remake the whole fridge area with a 39" cabinet. If you're concerned about the manufacturer's warranty, call them and ask them personally. If they say no go, then I'd just switch to one of the many full sized fridges that are OK with that 1/4" clearance on the side. Most brands will be just fine with that.

The part you photographed does not seem to match the parts fiche. Something is jacked up, here. What might be happening is a design change. The photo you provide does not give me enough information to be sure. But if you step back, is this the main water inlet solenoid/valve assy for the fridge? If so, the part specced for that now is on this page. It looks pretty standard, the solenoids are integrated with the valve body, with one inlet, for the fresh water connection, a 1/4" compression fitting, and TWO outlets, likely for the fountain dispenser and icemaker.

Where is this part you are trying to repair located? in the back of the fridge right where the water connection goes? If so, find the two lines running out of your existing setup. Can they be moved to the new style, if this is indeed a design change? That is the sort of question I would have.

Thank you guys for your help I really appreciated.

Well to be honest I'm not really a appliance guru, all the information I have is the result of researching the net for 8 hours lol, so forgive me if I may sound like I don't know what I'm doing. Well that being said I will add more pictures to give you guys a different view hopefully that helps.

@Chac_Mool: I placed an order for the water inlet valve which Mojavean also suggested. I had the same thought, if I order that water valve that it comes with the solenoid. Once my order comes in I will see if it comes with it. Thank you for your help. =)

@Mojavean: I think you're correct, I've had this fridge for about 5 years so the possibility is very high that the design has changed. Yes, the part I'm trying to repair is located in the back at the bottom of the fridge where the water connection goes. The solenoid was connected to the 1/4" inlet marked as ice.

"Can they be moved to the new style, if this is indeed a design change?" - Only thing is I am willing to try a new solenoid design but I wouldn't know which solenoid will work with the water inlet valve since the solenoid had a 3pin molex connection if that's what you call it. You can see this 3pin wire in the picture I have linked below.

The link to the picture also shows the words that are molded on to the solenoid and also a picture when it's unscrewed off the water inlet valve. Hope it helps.

Let me know if I haven't answered any questions, as I tried to answer each one the best I could. Keep in mind this is my first time repairing a fridge and this repair may not seem difficult I rather get all the help I can before I do anything I shouldn't do. Thank you guys for all the help.
