Thanks all... it looks even softer than I had anticipated. I can't wait to see it grouted and with the hood up this week. That will really complete it. Too bad I couldn't have had that done to submit pics to the Horton Brass contest but I'm going to have to go with what I got since the contest ends the 6/1 and it won't be done in time.

I love it. We originally started our tile search looking for frosted green glass subways ... but never found any as pretty as that. Very nice and a great compliment to the soapstone.

So what color grout??? Just wondering if the lines will pop or recede ...

You all made me wake up and smile... thanks for all the compliments. I'm using the Laticrete epoxy grout again like I used on our floors. I decided to combine two colors. Seaglass (which I was shocked Lowes had) and Silver Shadow.

remodelfla - Wow Wee! Everything is looking so awesome! So open and deliciously culinary. I love that baker's table, and that hood is just gorgeous! It's perfect for your kitchen and going to look like a piece of art!

About your grout color - Does your grout start off as a powder? If so, I don't know if this works with all grout, but a trick I learned from my tile installer is that the grout I had usually will dry the color of the dry powder, or close to it (if it's mixed with the right amount of water). When I was testing grout color, I took a little bit from the bag and put it in between the tiles to see if I liked it. You could try mixing equal portions of your 2 colors and test the same way to help you know ahead of time if you like the mix or just silver shadow.

cool notion about the grout littleitaly. Even though Laticrete Spectralock is mixed with some kind of magical activator, maybe I could take a teaspoon of each color and mix it with some water then apply between two cut pieces to see what it looks like. Hmmmm... I think I like that! Then I can try it also with each color on it's own. GREAT IDEA!!

I think back to when you first got the bakers table and
I thought it would be too challenging to restore. And look
it is perfect and adds to the entire gracious style of
the space. I am simply stunned how far you have come and
how fantastic the kitchen looks. You go girl. And when
the hood is installed I am going to be drooling even more.

Does anyone remember when you were thinking about getting
soapstone? I am so glad I said "Go for it!" Because
it really is perfect. And now the backsplash...All these
beautiful elements in one kitchen. Clearly you have the
vision needed to create a great space. I love it all.

Thank you all so much again. I did go through probably close to 100 layouts. I knew nothing when I started and learned so much from the patient and talented people on this board. I was telling DH last night as dinner came together that if I had to do it over again, there's not one thing I would change. Nothing. That space makes me so happy and I so enjoy using the heck out of my appliances. I cook/bake all the time and I've gotten so much creative since my appliances are so responsive. I know it started out as a hodgepodge of items that I bought off craigslist/ebay and collected (and they sat and collected dust) over 3 years. Now that the other house is rented, I really feel like I'm onto the next phase of my life. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! Can't wait to get that hood up!

It's actually the same thing I'm thinking about using. I have a Crystile sample in Ice Mist and it's one of those things that makes my heart flutter every time I pick it up. DH likes it too and we rarely agree on anything aesthetic. :-) How do you think it would look with a black Lacanche and black/brass ModernAire hood? And Shaker cabs (don't know what color yet, still agonizing over that)? I ask because you have stunning taste and I love what you've done with your kitchen. I am absolutely slain over that incredible baker's table.

Yeppers.... IKEA boxes with solid QS oak slab fronts from Scherrs. We went with the Premium cause it had the most flecking and I just found it so funky it was worth the upcharge to me.

I bet thiswas was addressed in another post, but how will that glass cabinet fully open after the range hood is installed? If that is a 30" cab, won't a 15" door travel over the extra 12" of counter and bang up against the hood?

I consider it a kitchen caveat xand83. I keep rarely used stuff up there and I'll just be careful to only open that one door just past 90 degrees.

I love your BS tile. It looks clean and modern, and yet soft (like sea glass does) at the same time. The color works wonderfully with your cabinets, counters and appliances.
