Encore crackle tile is in!
Comments (37)Thanks for the pictures and glad you finally chose a backsplash. I'm in the midst of that decision right now. Encore Cameo was one of my favorites, but I'm still unsure. I googled it and came to your post. Can you tell me, does it look that grey in person or is that just my monitor? When saw it in the store, it seemed to me to be more like a light gold-green color. I appreciate your insight!...See MoreEncore Crackle Tile Questions...
Comments (13)Rubyclaire, the silver will be perfect. The walls in my kitchen & attached family room are painted a light medium gray and my fireplace is Revere Pewter. The furniture in the family room are a mix of light greys & greige (Revere Pewter). If you have the time, go ahead & order the sample but knowing your colors & expectations, I feel confident the Silver will be beautiful in your kitchen. I expected consistent light silvery gray tiles & was thrown off with the rosy greige in the mix. Several people (Hollysprings & Greendesigns are the ones that stick in my mind) pointed out that my kitchen needed warmth. They were right. The Silver is a beautiful neutral color & you'll be able to accent with almost any color. I had decided my accent color was going to be blue & got stuck on those blue tiles. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose the Silver. I never even saw the other colors because of that sample board the tile shop made. I would have had one heck of a time choosing a color, so many beautiful choices. I love Bookworm's Cameo & Marthastoo Mint but I think Silver is your color. Edit: to be perfectly honest, I had the hardest time letting go of those blue tiles. Sometimes, I'm like a dog with a bone. It wasn't until after the backsplash was installed that I saw the light. Encore made two separate attempts (fired two small batches) to get me those blue ones. Thank goodness they wouldn't let me mix in random blues from one of the other colors. I have two boxes of extra tiles too. One more thing, where is Greendesigns? I don't think I've seen one of his/her posts in a long time. Comments (13)Thanks for the feedback and compliments on the granite everyone. It sounds like all of you are on the same page and think I should wait. I am having a hard time figuring out how to make that happen. Our kitchen project is a remodel and we hired a general contractor to do the work. His crew does most of the work. Our project is scheduled to take six weeks. With the lead time on the tile, I can't wait until the cabinets and granite are installed and still have the backsplash completed as part of the project. Would you all still just wait? The pictures were taken in my current kitchen and the amount of lighting won't be changing. We live in a heavily shaded area and we have very little natural light in our kitchen even with windows along the back of the house. The amount of light wont be a lot different in the new kitchen. I know the piece of granite is just a small part of the slab but with some of the grey and tan tones in the floor tile I thought the smoke would work better overall. I think I am going to drive myself crazy with all of the decisions that have to be made before this project is over......See MoreStain on my crackle tile - any thoughts on what to do?
Comments (14)CLEANING CRACKLE TILES-WORKED EXTREAMLY WELL! Our daughter was cooking some red sauce on the back burner, and quite a bit splattered on our crackle tile, and didn't get cleaned off. Hence, we had many red splotches on our tile that soaked in! What I tried SUCCESSFULLY was 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, and then soaked make-up remover cotton rounds with the peroxide and applied to the tile surface. I left it for a few hours and the stains were completely gone!!! There appeared to be some shadowing left were the pad was applied, but I put a small fan on it overnight and the shadowing evaporated and was gone in the morning! Thank god this worked!...See Moreromy718
