Any Balanco Cascade sink owners with soap dispenser on right?
Comments (6)Hi a2gemini. I don't feel like I am in the home stretch. I moved out on 3/4/11 and am still not home. I cannot believe you already know which sink you are getting, so far before your reno have started. That's great planning on your part. I agree with you that the soap dispenser on the right doesn't sound like a good plan, because the ledge is there. I was just wondering if it is possible that it is not as bad as we are envisioning. I figured a Blanco Cascade owner with this setup, or even just one who uses the basket side the way we plan to, would be able to set me straight once and for all. If the dispenser is put on the right, it would be right over the basket because there has to be room left between the faucet and the dispenser, especially if it is a single handle faucet with the lever on the right. There is usually an average of around 8" - center to center - between faucet and soap dispenser, I think. There isn't any more room on that side to play with. I haven't even seen my faucet hole in the counter as yet, but I will look at it and try to picture it all. I bought the KWC Primo soap dispenser, after it was recommended here, and after beating my head against a brick wall about the Grohe finishes and the Grohe soap dispenser issues and reviews. I haven't yet compared the finish of my faucet with the finish of the soap dispenser, but hope to do that ASAP - I just got the dispenser yesterday and the faucet is at the site. My faucet is the Grohe Minta in the Supersteel finish and the soap dispenser for the kitchen is the KWC Primo in the Splendure Stainless finish. (I bought the KWC Primo in Chrome for my laundry room - the faucet there will be chrome). Although the bottle on the KWC is huge - 15oz I think, I also ordered NeverMT for both dispensers. I will be happy to share whatever I learn once I get in the groove and really start using these babies on a daily basis, so feel free to nudge me to see if I am back home before you get to crunch time....See MoreSoap dispenser - any regrets not adding one - or adding one?
Comments (33)southernsticher, the Never MT is basically a long tube with a one way valve on it that attaches from the soap dispenser to a large bottle of soap (dish soap or hand soap.) It takes the place of the plastic soap reservoir that comes with the dispenser. The soap lasts a lot longer between changes and changing is easier since bottles are just swapped out instead of having to pour soap from one container to another. In my case I just have one dispenser at each sink and these dispensers are hooked into my hand soap bottles with the Never MT (tube.) The Never MT comes with different fittings for different size soap bottle mouths. Our soap dispensers were purchased separately from the faucets and don't tie into the faucet in any way. I have a pull down faucet with a single lever handle. We had 2 holes cut---one for the faucet and one for the soap dispenser. Some people do have 2 dispensers--for hand and dish soaps. Our dispenser isn't long enough to reach the plastic tub I put in our single bowl sink for washing dishes. I wouldn't want a long nozzle sticking that far out into my sink because I would probably keep knocking into it with large fry pans and stock pots. Since I only use dish soap approx. once a day, it's not a problem storing it under the sink. Here is a link that might be useful: Never MT...See MoreFaucet + hot water dispenser + soap dispenser
Comments (9)One thought on your decision is if the Blanco has a colander etc which you place on the right side of the sink, then perhaps reverse the soap dispenser to the left side. But yes, they drilled my holes all in a row, separated by chosen distances. If the hole size for the hot water dispenser and the soap dispenser are the same, you can always change them out. Don't let the plumbers use plumbers putty on installation of the sink flange or drain. Blanco recommends clear silicone for its Silgranit. Counter tops which etch shouldn't have plumbers putty either as it may etch from it I understand. Sorry, no pictures yet. Excited for you: countertops let you know you're half way there....See Moresoap dispenser--do you use it?
Comments (24)I have a cheap Ikea one that matches my expensive HansGrohe faucet very well :) I LOVE it, but second the "check your distances" advice. I let the counter isntaller decide how far back to drill the hole, and he lined it up with the faucet hole. It's too far back; the end of the soap dispenser doesn't clear the marble, so any spills wind up on the marble rather than in the sink. other than that, I am SO glad I have it. Otherwise, we'd always be reaching under the sink for dish soap or hand-washing. Or have a dispenser sitting on the counter . I like this much better!...See Morepbrisjar
