If you were a guest in our home, would you want a ceiling fan...
Comments (20)please put in the ceiling fan. We live in the Mid Atlantic and when I moved here from the upper plains states I thought I moved to the tropics!!! I also dread visiting the Atlanta relatives any time other than Christmas. My DH wants the AC at 70 or lower and I have to have air movement. Year round. I would keep the window open all winter if my DH allowed. I also have been known to travel with a small fan in my suitcase. Yes really. There are so many different styles of ceiling fans I'm sure you could find one thats not too offensive to your design....See MoreCan I paint a brass ceiling fan?
Comments (2)I'd say absolutely, but I wouldn't do it without partially disassembling the fan. I'd remove the brass parts, scuff them with a coarse scotchbrite pad and use spray paint to color them. The paint will be soft at first, so the longer you can wait before reassembling the fan, the less damage you will do when you do it. Comments (3)You should be able to easily remove the blades, that would help a great deal and give you more access and not have them spinning and getting in your way. For metal, I've used Zinsser Bullseye 123 primer, it grabs pretty well. Otherwise I'd use a good oil-based primer. I tend to use Rustoleum on metal projects, they have a pretty good color selection. But I've also had other paint manufacturers (Behr, for instance) mix their colors in a paint made for metals (an indoor and an outdoor wrought iron railing). Here is a link that might be useful: Rustoleum Paints...See MoreHow to paint ceiling fans?
Comments (6)Well, they are pretty high up - so I think I will need someone to take them down. Gez, maybe it would just be easier to buy new fans! I can't even imagine me taking the housing apart and getting it put back together properly! Also, finding the "right" ORB color/finish may be another issue. I did paint one ceiling light an ORB and it came out not exactly like I wanted. I should never have ordered WHITE!!! Second thought - maybe since they are pretty far up there, I wouldn't need to paint much of the top part - only what you can see !...See Morecmzimme
