I'm guessing you're referring to the pets & decorating link. Not everyone realizes they can provide a clickable link when their post is the first in a thread. That option only appears when you do a preview.

Actually the option appears immediately when you "Post a Follow-up." You do not have to preview-I can see the "Optional Link URL" and "Name of Link" below this as I am typing and have not previewed yet.

Okay, I hope that I don't get flamed for this, but to those who want to post really long URLs, here is how you to it to create a clickable link AND keep the thread from getting reaallly wide.

If you bookmark this link you will be able to do various things in your posts. IMO clickable links make things so much easier.

Gardenweb doesn't make things as easy as other MB's but they have given instructions on how-to.

Luckygal, I always wondered how people changed their fonts. This is sooo neat. I'll have to play with the tags to get the hang of them.

Buehl, but you're forced to continually repost that thread as it maxes out. Why it, or parts of it, hasn't been incorporated into a Kitchen Forum FAQ page is beyond me. The link Luckygal posted must be a FAQ page on some forum. It should be on all of them!

Those are code sequences you'd use if you were making a web page for someone.

I really never understood why, but maybe they think it might conflict with the horrendous amount of advertizing they stick in our faces. I often wonder if they actually make any $$ from it. But I digress.

That's not it. Many people use HTML here. And why would they have allowed the creation of that FAQ page if that were the case? I think they just don't want to be bothered bringing this site into the 21st Century.

The silver lining is we've been forced to learn about HTML in order to make our posts a lil more fun.

Knowing a few basic HTML codes can come in handy. For example if you want to make a Squidoo lens it's all about HTML. But I agree, as big as GW appears to be I've never understood why the forum features are so incredibly basic and stripped down -- from the military time stamp on posts to the tiny non-expandable text box.

I can expand the text box.

funcolors you can expand your text box with some browsers but not IE. I use Chrome and not only does it allow me to expand my text box, but it underlines in red any spelling errors which you can then right click to find alternatives.
