Mattress recomendations
Comments (42)Well, the mattress came yesterday and was a snap to set up. I had a great night's sleep on it and I don't think I will need a "break in" period. No off-gassing smell. All was just fine with it. As a bonus, my sheets stay on now because it is only 10"!!! So nice not to have to fight to keep the fitted sheets on. My back is still bothering me some, but I had no problem getting comfortable last night. I like the company and I am very satisfied with the mattress. Thanks, Gardenspice, for your information and encouragement....See MoreWhat's your expectation of how long a mattress should last?
Comments (28)We have a 20-year old Spring-Air twin mattress that my daughter still sleeps on. It's great. We have another 15-year old Spring-Air king-size that's still good as new. I bought a Sealy firm-memory foam, and it's still good as new, after 9 years. My mother-in-law also loved her very old Spring-Air mattress. I don't have much luck with Serta. I bought that brand new one time, and returned it to the store after 1-night of sleep ... it was really bumpy. My friend has Serta for a few years and she's NOT happy. I tried a bunch of Serta this weekend at Sam's Club .. NOT impressed. We bought a memory-foam topper at Sam's club for an old mattress in the basement, but we HATE it, too mushy, like sinking in mud. I'm shopping for a FIRM latex or foam topper .... spent hours looking at Amazon reviews but could not find any safe bets. Thanks for any recommendations....See MoreInnerspring Mattress Poll
Comments (9)We bought one made by a local mattress maker. It had a heavier gauge coil and higher count that the big name version we'd seen. It also has mini coils in the top -- again more than the big name, and they seemed to be the key to getting something DH and I were both comfortable with. If you go to a mattress makeer, you can see exactly what is in the mattress and they will probabbly have ore knowledge to be able to guide you to that combination of soft and support that feels right for you (yes, easier said than done, and even harder or two people with different builds). They can even build a custom mattress and told us about things they had done for people with shoulder injuries, two very different people, etc....See MoreMattresses - longer term experiences?
Comments (33)A couple of years ago I decided to try the bed in a box products and got a Brooklyn Bedding Best Mattress Ever and indeed it's pretty darn good ;). Had been using a latex mattress for quite awhile and love that v. coils, I'll never go back. But when I downsized from a king to queen size the BB mattress was literally a third of the price of the latex products out there. It's a combination of latex and man made foam and it's a dream to sleep on. Super easy to get; you order online, it's shipped compacted in a box and you just cut the packaging and watch it blossom open into its shape. After several years I love it as much or more than I did when I first got it. Would recommend this mattress VERY highly. Oh, and it doesn't sleep warm at all....See Moresjhockeyfan325
