Woven Wood Shades for Kitchen? (PICS)

I am hoping to order woven wood shades for two kitchen windows to allow for evening privacy (atleast until our landscaping fills in!) I got a quote today for two shades that came out to about $1200. That seems expensive to me! Should they really cost that much? It seems the Smith and Noble would run about $250-360 per shade depending on the grade of the weave. I'm not looking for any add-ons such as banding, continuous loop pulls, etc. and the windows are each 58" wide. Has anyone used Smith & Noble or any other on-line sites, and if so, did you send for swatches first? I would love any available advice!

Here are pictures of the windows. I plan to do an outside mount and hang them about 6 inches above the window so that they will have a bit of a valence effect when fully open, and to maximize daytime light.
