I'm doing my master bedroom in brown and a muted aqua. One accent wall in ICI's Light Chocolate. Very similar to SW's Cobblestone Brown. The other three walls will be SW's Watery (maybe Quietude). Trim will be a soft light creamy color. Since I don't do big foo-foo comforter sets anymore (but I LOVE those above!), I found a perfect "quilt ensemble" (quilt and shams) in the same muted aqua. Target of all places :) The master bath will be an ivory travertine with sand colored walls and "sea tones" glass tiles for accent and a dark "espresso" stained vanity that will play off the chocolate wall in the bedroom. Giallo Ornamental granite on the vanity is creamy/sandy and brown tones. SURE hope it all looks as good in reality as it does in my head! (g) BTW, chocolate brown and light blue were in my fall wedding colors 27 years ago! I was SO happy to see it emerge as popular combination. Monica

On one side, you could have one of these cheap-o round tables, which you then have a table cloth made for out of your choice of fabric. Put a glass top on itâ¦voila. This option would also help in limiting the different woods and wood tones in the room, as well as giving the room another way of adding color or other design.

Well hello Sarah. Good for you. I see you and your husband are okay with painting the room. Bottom line Sarah you are the ones who have to be happy with the room after all you and your husband are the ones who have to live with it and painting it again is no fun. Originally you wanted to make the room feel bigger. It is up for debate; some say darker colors do the job, others light. Anything that reflects light in a room makes it feel bigger such as mirrors, wall lights and I believe, lighter walls. I ask, what color makes you and your husband happy and gets you excited? Also what color is closest to your duvet? Do you want to match the duvet or go just one color lighter? It does seem as if this project is driving you up the wall. Ouch. My wish is that you had a room upstairs that you could turn into a master. BTW the one with a touch of grey looks great. Best wishes, Marcie

I like a small desk or table in a guest bedroom. Many people will bring a laptop and will want to have a surface to work on, and it is not advised to work on the bed or your lap, it gets lots of lint and dust in there. That's why college students fry their laptops on a regular basis, they work on their beds and laps and on the floor, and lots of dust and lint get in them and they don't vacuum them regularly or replace the heat paste either. I would keep clutter to a minimum in a guest room and one of the ways to do that is to not have a bedside lamp. You can have wall-mounted sconces that are plug-in so you don't have to use an electrician.
