argh...I need help with my master bedroom
Comments (7)I also love the linen/white look. Unlike you and ingrid, I love the look of long, flowing, white curtains in a bedroom... but I can see how they would be boring to some. I will be going with a similar look on my bed-- mostly ivory with either linen or pale blue/green accents and layers. I had planned to use bosporus flax fabric to make a duvet but I wasnt thrilled with the look of it on my bed. I threw it over a curtain rod and am currently loving the idea of it for panels. It is pale enough to be like a neutral but adds some interest to the white-linen color scheme. Bosporus Flax would be less flexible .. but there are other colorways in the bosporus toile pattern that should coordinate with lots of colors as accents. Just an idea...See MoreI need help selecting a window treatment for our master bedroom
Comments (31)Olivia- answering your question-I guess what you had originally is what I like. Navy curtains straight down. Skip the valance, would be great if you got rid of those wood blinds, but I understand if its a no go zone. Can I suggest room darkening curtains, they work well with blocking sunlight in the mornings. I did this in my room, just to avoid the whole blind thing and when I open the curtains the full window is exposed and lets in all the light. Agree with doods- longer rod, fuller curtains ( wider in size ). I have had 2 curtain panels stitched together to make a wider curtain before.. Not too high curtain rod setting either. Maybe a little puddling on floor to give it that romantic feel. Navy curtains I like, nice contrast against the lighter wall. Is that gold ( yellow ) in that artwork? ..so maybe add some gold accent in the room, either in throw blanket or throw pillow. Good luck!...See MorePlease help me decide on nightstands for the master bedroom.
Comments (21)I like the third one best. The other two are too busy for me with two pulls/knobs per drawer. Multiply those pulls/knobs by 2 cause you’re getting two nightstands, that is too many pulls/knobs for my taste. And you’ll also have nail heads. I’d like a nightstand with glass knobs perhaps. But really, this is a guessing game, might as well ask us to be clairvoyant. As mentioned, this is a non-sensical request for opinions since we cannot see the room or the bed....See MoreMaster bedroom revamp
Comments (6)You can certainly have nightstands but instead of the usual ones, look at the ones that are "floating". They take up less room and are attached to the wall. You may need to bolt them to the wall, however. Either have someone do that for you or look on youtube for a video about how to do it. Here are examples of floating night table styles. https://www.houzz.com/photos/query/tiny-floating-bedroom-night-tables/nqrwns Put your ceiling lights on dimmers. For great atmosphere, get a table lamp or wall sconce in each corner at chest height. The challenge with ceiling lights is sometimes they can make a room look like a doctors office. Lighting is often overlooked as a design element, but it is actually an important part of the room. Wall decor is highly personal. Check out a local artist, art gallery, or see if a local college has their own art gallery. Also, try art.com. They have a lot of choices in subjects, sizes, shapes, etc. Get a print from them, then have it framed locally in plexiglass (safer and lighter to hang). Here is just one example. https://www.art.com/products/p17004839651-sa-i7001458/jean-brooks-river-broom-near-ullapool-wester-ross-highlands-scotland-united-kingdom-europe.htm?upi=PHD92P0&PODConfigID=4990971&sOrigID=7855...See Morenjmomma
