I think it looks great!!! Love your choice of paint with the black accent frames, etc. I know you mentioned you didn't have the money for a countertop update BUT Home Depot has GRANITE ones on sale for 189...000...HMMM.... Love your choices on everything!!

I didn't know what to expect when I was reading your post. LOL. I think your bathroom looks great. You did a good job. You made excellent choices in your remodel and they all compliment each other. The towel bars are very nice. I really like the black framed print. I would add some similar art work with the same black frame on the available walls. You don't need to add anything else. Clutter free is a good look.

Just a few easy suggestions. Instead of a solid white shower curtain, I'd try to find one in a b&w print, to play up your black accessories and add a little pizzazz. Then maybe a nice silvery-metal liquid soap dispenser and maybe a tissue box or something else to match. And finally, maybe a plant on the counter in a black or b&w pot? I think it looks good so far, it just needs a little more personality! Check out the b&b shower curtains at Target -- the French vocab. one would be cute! (Thinking of your Paris print by the sink.)

It looks wonderful, nice substantial light over mirror, love the white towel and the print. You could add a soap pump and dish in the same metal, and fold a few white hand towels on the counter.

Or a small clear glass vase with some decorative beige sand in it and a white votive.
Your bath is clean and fresh and elegant.

Thank you for the nice words everyone. I was hoping my bathroom looked okay but it makes me feel great to know that you all had good things to say about it. I think a black and white shower curtain is a good idea and I love Target so I will look into that. I also agree that I'd like to add some more art work but I can't seem to figure out where to put it. Wall space is limited. Any ideas? Also, I think I do need to find a few things to place on the vanity top. Thank you for the suggestions.

I think it looks great now. If you want you could add some color. For example add some colored towels, pretty tissue box and soap container, bathmat.

i don't know how to accessorize, but you did a fantastic job! the paint color is very sophisticated, and the hardware, mirror, etc. are perfect for the room. i'm always amazed that it's the big picture that really counts, not the details. the sink counter is hardly noticed with everything else being so chic! if you accomplish in the rest of your "not near as beautiful" home (as you said) as you did here, it must be very nice!

I like your bathroom! You've done a very nice job. When I first looked at your pictures, your mirror stood out. I think it needs a 'frame' around it....in black to go with your pictures. I did a quick photo shop of it.... it may inspire you. Please keep us updated.

I'm getting excited about all the suggestions and it's not even my bathroom. I love the black frame on the mirror that Ginger did and I think the paris shower curtain would be perfect in there. I see room for some more picture above the other towel rack and to the right of it (above the light switch). You might could find some smaller decorative pieces, like iron scrolls or black wooden plaques with words on it) to put above the doors.

just another suggestion for your limited wall space .. you could paint or stencil words on your wall (If you go with the Paris theme- fleur de leis stencils and french words etc...)

Thank you all so much for your ideas. I love the idea of framing french postcards. I will definitely look into that. I did think the best place to hang some things would be above the towel bar or above the light switch but I was afraid the items would have to be hung too high. I guess I will just give it a try. I bought some iron scroll things and tried them above the closets but they looked too country for the room in my opinion. Stenciling or putting words above the closets (like "His" and "Hers") did cross my mind but I'm still pondering on it.

I had also thought about framing out the mirror but wasn't sure if I should do it in black or white, so thanks for the photoshop Snap.

I'm not sure if the house is a Ryland. I actually don't know what that means. Is it the name of a floor plan? I was really suprised that there was only one sink in the master and we would eventually like to upgrade to two but that will involve new plumbing and reworking the cabinetry and that is not in my budget right now. But hopefully one day.

I recently painted my guest bathroom in SW Latte and I like how it turned out. Tile will be layed next week so after that I might post some pictures of it as well. The bathrooms are the only two rooms I've worked on so far since moving in 3 months ago.

I think you have done a wonderful job! The room is very pretty and fresh, and the black is just the right accent.

I agree that the mirror would be nice framed, but as much as I love black, I would frame out the mirror in white, in a moulding that compliments what is used on the doorways, etc. I think the black is too heavy for the white cabinets and counter, and is perhaps a bit modern if you are going with the French theme.

I would consider using the closet with the double doors as a place to hang your series of framed postcards. It will help distract from all the doorways in that spot.

While I like the white shower curtain, if it will be closed all the time it acts like another wall, and I think you could have something a bit more interesting there. Black and white toile would be pretty with your french theme. Or even just adding some black and white trim to the curtain, perhaps something like this along the top line where the hooks are attached:

I think changing out the soap container, perhaps adding a green plant in a black and white toile planter to tuck in the corner of the countertop, or even a white orchid in a pot, would be nice touches.

I really like the simplicity of your bath. Do you have anything above your commode? If not, perhaps you could have a larger print over it framed like the one we see in your pictures. Or even a shelf painted white like your trim and with some black accessories. Even black towels may be nice but I think your white ones look very fresh.

I'm not sure yet if I want to go all out with the French theme in this room. The print that is currently hanging up is something I picked up while in Paris a few years ago and since I just moved into my house, very few of my pictures have been hung on the walls. Out of what I had on hand, this seemed to fit the best in the bathroom space. So I just put it up. I'm not opposed to keeping this picture, but I'm also opened to taking it down and going in a different direction with the artwork. But I do think I'd like to stick with black frames.

Les, I think I agree that the black frame around the mirror may be too heavy, so I'll try to do a trial run with both colors before I do anything permanent. And I also agree that a shower curtain with a little more color would help. I gravitate toward simple things because I am not good with color, but I think a different shower curtain would add something to the room.

Dorothy, there is nothing above the commode now but I could put something there. I just kind of pushed that to the back burner because you can't see that area when you walk into the room because it's hidden by the small wall.

The ideas are really helping me think outside my box - which is good because I'm left brained and Type A personality. This forum has really helped me even though I have been mostly a lurker on here for a while. I want to have a home the feels welcoming (this is my first house) and you guys have really helped me.

Don't like the black-framed mirror. It is totally out of place with this crisp neutral room. I think if you add anything else to the wall, you could do a creamy white platter.

Take a look at Ballard Designs. They have lots of black, white, gold, french-themed and harlequin accessories.

Oh honey, if you could see my bathroom, you'd see--immediately--why there is absolutely NO reason for you to be apologetic about yours. In fact, yours is how I hope my looks one day, once it's been gutted and rebuilt. You did a nice job: simple lines, very pretty and clean-looking. :)

a Metlasse shower curtain and a pretty whitish/buttery ceramic platter over the or you could just find a pretty chamber pot on E-Bay in white, and set it out with a faux orchid in it, white, of course.

I like the faux orchid idea, although I'd probably put it away and just pull it out when guests are coming to avoid it getting gunked up with make up and hair products.

I love, love, love, your bathroom! Love the potty behind that wall, love the color of your walls! Love the black accents and love the silver/nickle towel holder and shower rod. I would frame out the mirror in white to match your trim. I would add a nickle finish soap dispenser and a small mirror on a stand to look at the back of your hair. Love the idea of an orchid in a glass vase. I would add a black and white toile shower curtain. Your look is classic and timeless, and fresh. Don't add much more. Love it uncluttered.

I would vote against framing the mirror at all. I like the idea of a potted orchid
on the counter as an addition, otherwise I would say you're done.

Seeing as how it is very hard to motivate my husband to do house projects (and believe me, there are a lot to be done) I will probably have to wait a while on framing out the mirror. But I can definitely get a potted Orchid and a few other accessorie items. Once I do all of that, I will try to post more pictures but it may be a while.
