Help re: protecting wood from UV

We just purchased a beautiful console table for our new entryway. The room gets a lot of sun, so I'm terrified of the UV destroying it. We plan on getting the UV film put on the windows, but not until next spring. So, in the meantime, I need a "temporary" fix to protect the top (it is only the top that would be exposed to the sun, based on placement under the window - there is no other place to put it). As such, I'm thinking of a burlap runner. Do you think burlap would protect enough, or should I go with something more "solid"? Our house is rustic modern, so things like hemstitched linen just don't work for our decor. Thanks!
