Potterybarn knock-offs

I'm trying my hand at crafting. I can't sew, I'm not artistic or anything like that. I'm hoping that one day I will be! This was my first project:

I spent $86

Items purchased:

Solder Iron

Blank Stencil Film

Good Scissors

Stitch Witchery

No Fray

Black Fabric Paint

Stencil Brush

12 yds of Burlap

On the computer, I printed the numbers and the W monogram stencil that I wanted. Put the Blank Stencil Film over top and traced with a fine tip Sharpe. Then with the Blank Stencil Film placed on an extra 12x12" tile I had, I used the solder iron to cut out my stencils. I wanted my placemats and runner to be two-ply for extra weight. I cut my burlap to size (Placemat = 12x18" and Runner 14"x134"). I applied Stitch Witchery and fused my ply together. Then I frayed the edges out to about 1/4" and applied No Fray. Then I applied my stencils.

p.s. The numbers don't mean anything... it's just a nod to how Potterybarn seems to number everything.

I have plenty of supplies left over, including burlap, so I plan on more crafting this weekend. I hope to make a burlap table cloth for the 6' table we will use for appetizers for our Thanksgiving Eve Cocktail Party and little burlap candle wraps with buttons.

Wow! for someone who claims to not be crafty or artsy, these are terrific. Your dining room is beautiful; you do have an artistic eye!

I read your posting in the Kitchen forum and all of the answers and not surprised that your head is not spinning. I am strong proponent of Grohe but read a lot of forums and discussion rooms daily and the bottom line is the warranty and plenty of people gave you that answer. Moen is an excellent mid quality company and they back it up with action so if you like the fixture and it fits your budget clear the fog that people have laid out though well meaning and buy the one you found at Lowes. As an aside I checked a couple of web sites for online suppliers that I trust and neither carry that fixture so my guess is that it is a special model made for LOwes or that market which does not make it a bad thing.

There are many good manufactured granite sinks. If you pick jet black, there are a number that will be close enough in color that you can’t tell the difference. I read your question and immediately thought, “Cue the GW drama over how only the most expensive option is the best!” But the fact is that half the things people freak out about with sinks....don’t matter. The gauge of steel? Meaningless for performance, for example. I didn’t really like this kind of sink in the past, but my mother has had one—a knockoff, I’m certain—and has loved it for 12+ years.

Hahahaha DeeDee!

I might try to knock off the bedding from Restoration Hardware. Buy some linen, maybe a bit simpler crest. Now, I just need to learn to sew... oh and get a sewing machine!

Beautiful! Great job and great idea. I love ideas like that. I'm kind of a low skill crafter and like ideas that "anyone" can do. Thanks for sharing!

Great job, I'm impressed! I love the look, simple yet beautiful! I'm also loving your dining table, is it from pottery barn, and if so, what do you think of the finish and quality. I've been eyeing a farmtable style set but a little weary because of some of the reviews on PBs site.

ksoxgrl - Yeah, it's the Benchwright. I just love it. It's super solid. No veneers. With the two leaves, it fits 12 nicely for Thanksgiving. I haven't seen any of their other tables, but I think the quality of this one is great!

I absolutely love what you did!

You could have some fun with the numbers... maybe have a dinner party, and serve people according to the numbers. Or maybe draw numbers to see who will help with the dishes!
