I'm looking for Shabby Chic girls rooms too. I'm looking for more of the stuff that I see directly from Rachel Ashwell's books. No bright anywhere. Totally different direction than what I was planning originally but yesterday I painted her wall color and when I stepped back it just whispered super simple, shabby chic so now the hunt is on! This will be the 3rd set of bedding that I am taking back now. I've been pouring over my RA Shabby Chic books & just orderd her new one. The paint I chose is SW Conservative Gray. Trim was already bright white. I'm going to do white washable bedding from Target w/ blush colored sheets w/ ruffles and will try to pick that up in some pillows. So far window treatments I'm leaning towards are simple white IKEA roman shades. I'm painting her bureau and side table the palest blush. I'm thinking about throwing up some picture framing on the walls too. I saw a great alphabet project on Sara's House where they cut out letters from scrap MDF in all differnt fonts and placed them on a plate rail around the room. I showed it to DH and he is going to see if any of his business acquantainces through work have a C&C router to cut out the letters for me and then I am going to glitter them in shades of antique gold and blush. It'll be a bit until I have pictures but I'm getting ready to go back up and work plus I also need to wait for Rachels new book to arrive to get more ideas. It literally fell together in my head in about 15 minuttttes last night. It was my Ah Hah moment when I stepped back and looked at the finished wall.

With my children I've found that they tend to focus on wanting a particular wall color, but have difficulty envisioning the entire look and how one choice (bedding) impacts another (wall color). What has worked for me is to show them pictures until we choose an inspiration room. Pottery Barn Kids and Teen are a great source and they even list their wall colors on the website. I did a black&white & turquoise room for my older DD about 4-years ago and it still works. It's a classic look as is B&W & pink. I agree you can go many different ways with it; a Parisian theme or fun and bold. I try to work in the bolder colors with easy to change accents like pillows, etc. My DD turned 18 yesterday and has the B&W dotted bedding; but a friend of mine used that same bedding for her then 9-year-old and paired it up with pink walls and fluffy pink pillows. If you put the black in the bedding then your DD may agree to not doing the black accent wall (which I would try to discourage). If you have hardwood floors, then a fun and colorful rug is another place to bring in color. If your DD wants more black in her room, add in decorative black frames. Show her how to use black accents without painting the wall black.

The color that I'm thinking about is similar to the post above me, maybe a tad lighter. If you were up to doing a two tone, I wouldn't use pink, but two shades of green. I also like the idea of an accent wall, depending on the room. For the accent wall, I like the BM Georgian Green that was posted. From what I can see on my monitor, looks like a great accent color. I actually had the Depot color match the LA color in their Behr paint - since my husband prefers their paint... Sometimes you have to get creative and white out or cover up the name on back of the color sample since they have agreements with those other paint co's.... but if they don't know it, they'll do it - a HD employee gave me that tip!! Another tip, I usually paint a piece of white poster board. I do little squares, a 2x2 inch piece so that I can take it to the Depot for them to color match. Once they do that, you just take the lid back, they will match using the numbers. I then keep a database on my computer with the paint mix formula.

It might be a good idea to put the new dresser in one of the closests, if that can't be done then you might not be able to use the nightstand. We think you might be able to put the bed where the current crib is, then once the dresser is gone from the window you can put the desk there. Then you could put the new dresser where the desk is.
