I really like the two where you have them now by your entance and then I think I would put the third one in the red niche by the stairs.

I would look for something else above the sofa.

I think your idea to keep things pretty simple with some ironwork is enough. I like the ones in the entryway; however I think they are too far apart from one another. The rule of thumb I use when pairing pictures together is to use the width of the mat to be the width between the pictures. I think it would look nice to put a console table below the pictures as well as it looks off in the vertical direction due to the red wall inset. As for the one over the sofa, I would place it beneith the shelf. Putting it on the other red wall looks to be too high to appreciate the artwork which should be hung at eye level.

Glad you started this thread! I have two Ansel Adams prints myself. They can be hard to place. In fact, upon return from a recent vacation, I re-matted and hung a print of The Snake River by AA. Since we had just floated the South Fork of the Snake, the print which was sitting in my attic, is now is on the wall in my office. The pic shows you my print, rematted to remove the writing. Also, my office pics and such are all done in black frames, so this was the best place for the AA.

I like the shot looking down at your leather with the AA print over it. I think it it goes well on a colored wall. I am only using one at the moment, because my office is the only room that handle "the Snake River" at the moment. The other still sits in the attic.

sidebar - I don't like to use prints with the name of the artist in type under the print itself. Just me, and I am sure I a going to be slammed here, it is just a pet peeve I have. I rematted to remove the "Ansel Adams" at the bottom of the pic. Just seems a bit redundant. Most people looking for/at AA work can pick easily pick it out without the name being typed underneath.

Anyhoo, I have used mine in a room (my office) that is painted a very rich shade of lineny gold if you will. A very saturated bold color which works with the black frames and accessories which are in my office. All of the other framed items are framed similarly (black) with white or creamy white mats.

So, if it were me, I would try to hang with similar accent colors, or on a specifically bold colored wall as you have in the pic of your leather sofa, not sure which room. So early, my eyes are still half shut:).

Valinsv- I thought I mentioned this in post but I guess I forgot. The three pics are currently on nails that were there from previous owner. We don't want to add new hooks until sure where they will go.

We are contemplating an entry way table either there or further down the hall, waiting for sofas before deciding on that.

We also like a William Morris Tree of Life Tapestry and thought of hanging that in that upper red wall. Still not sure.

Everyone: would it look ok to have the AA pictured down below and a tapestry on the upper red wall??

work- we never thought about the writing when these were framed originally. We have seen them framed both ways. I like how yours is for your office.
