Haven't checked your other posts, but the French-style(?) wingbacked chair looks great in your space. I can't see whether there are any telltale decorations like scallop at top of backrest or claw and ball feet to know whether it is truly English or French, but others may know the specific style of your chair. You can also try researching on-line since you can see the full chair.

If you want to bring in a blue accent a printed pillow with the melon (?) from the drapes and blue from the chair may work on your sofa. Maybe add a striped valance in the same colors with one of the colors from your carpet. Imari accent pieces in the same colors will also be lovely.

Thanks for your comments, abundantblessing. Here is a better photo of the chair, which chair is darker than it shows in the photo. I did search online but only found one that was very close to this one, and it was labelled as a 1930 or 40's Chippendale-style.

What a gorgeous chair. The only place I can recommend you put it is at my house. LOL It's dynamite!! So how much did it cost, come on, we're dying here!

It looks great. The style. The color. The size. Everything.

LOL! Wow, I feel much better about this chair purchase now! It is comfy! I am short, so for me it suits perfectly because rarely do my feet reach the floor when I sit and this one allows that. And the back hugs my back.
And my beagle likes it, seeing he seems to be asleep in it most of the time.

I recently rearranged our furniture to suggestions from the good people in this forum, and although the changes opened up the room wonderfully and looks so much better, I discovered after a couple of hours spent with a visitor that having our seating all on one side of the room caused me to have a horribly sore neck from having to keep my head turned one way for so long. Not only that, we didn't have enough seating recently for two family gatherings. (at least those are the reasons I told my DH that we needed to buy a chair ;).

Okay, the price. Ahem. Well, here's the thing. Of the chairs I found that I liked the style of, this one didn't need anything done to it, so the price of $200 seemed reasonable. The others were $50 and $75, but although I liked the style, the condition of them was scary. Really stained on the seats, and no way could I use them until I could afford to have them rebuilt. I am still tempted to make a deal for one of them, though, as underneath all those stains and rips, I think it would be a gorgeous chair.

That's a really good price on a chair so beautiful and in such great condition.

I'm scouring Craigs for chairs and think I may have found a queen anne in relative good conditon for $50. I'm going to see it Saturday. I'll make sure to post it if I get it. It's an Ethan Allen so I hope it's well made.

Don't know why the sellers referred to it as a Chippendale chair, as it has cabriole legs which are a feature of Queen Anne style. Also, it has a channel back, not a wing back. Love the scallop shell detail in the front. For $200.00 you have found yourself a fantastic deal. Even if you decide to reupholster it, that would still be a good deal for such a solid, well made chair. Enjoy!

I just love the chair! Love everything about it. The color goes so well with your drapes. Blue is a great accent color with the orange family (think Moroccan).

I, too, have my petite chair in a transition point between rooms. They can get swallowed up by bigger pieces as you found out.

Well, it makes no sense that it would look good there, given the sage green walls and orange drapes. But, my goodness, it certainly DOES look good.

And look at the blues in the picture over the fireplace - the one on the left!

I agree that is one stunning chair and well worth the $200 you paid for it. It certainly adds a bit of drama into your room and looks versatile enough to go almost anywhere. You definitely should feel good about this purchase. CL can be a regional thing--and what may go in one area for $25, may cost much more or not even be available in other regions. When some post here about how terrible the selection on their local CL I am just happy we do have a selection. It looks to be an excellent quality piece. Have you turned the chair over to see if you can find any manufacturer tags?

Stinkygardener, the chair that was labelled a Chippendale-style was a similar one I found online. It was the only one I could find that had the channel back to compare with.

Greywings, the wall colour is actually a dark brown, not a sage green. It is a BM paint, called "Driftwood". I do have a couple of paintings in the room with blue in them. That one you pointed out, which is a still life with tangeloes in a white porcelain basket. The one next to it actually has blue stripe background and some blue pottery. And a painting on an opposite wall has flowers in a dark blue pot. I will try to bring more blues into the room as yes, they are complimentary with the oranges/browns/terracotta colours in here. I had been thinking an aqua might go in here, but never even considered a rich dark blue!

Yes, Parma, the chair sure did get swallowed up where I first tried it! I had it angled on the other side of the little table from my DHs' large leather recliner, and it looked rediculous there. Like a toy beside that big chair!

Valinsv, the person I bought this chair from said it had been in her family for many years, but because her house is small and she just had a second child, she was having to find more room in her house and she sadly had to give up the chair. She did say that her father had it reupholstered, and that he remembered it being in his grandparents' home when he was a boy. The fabric on the bottom has been replaced, so there is no tags there.

It sounds old and probably is very well made--much better than you could find today. I love the lines--pairing the channel back with more exposed wood along the top is an unusual and striking combination--whatever it is. The legs are definitely Queen Anne though and looks like the cushion is Down.

I too loooovvee that chair and I don't even like the color blue when it comes to decorating however I love that chair. Excellent purchase.

Laurience, I don't usually look at blue, either, after having so much of it in my house back in the '80s. But somehow I managed to end up with blue accents in my basement family room, and now in the living room.

Parma, thanks. The kitchen is almost done. I havent updated on it because I was waiting until it was finished, but maybe I'll post it in the kitchen forum seeing that thread about 'under $20K' is back on the first page. ;)
