thank you all! Sorry for the delay in getting back. DH had two surgeries back to back on tuesday and wednesday, very hectic around here. Cindyloo... I thought about painting it too. but it is such a huge undertaking. Our master bedroom trim was painted white before we bought the house. I had not thought of that!great idea. The olive greens i have now do look good. I am keeping them in the downstairs rooms. They do not need repainting. But i wanted something different, just need a change. brittone2.. the carpet on the stairs and all upstairs is an old ugly Mauve. ugh! I have ripped it up in two rooms. we are going to replace with laminate. I have two big dogs, and want no more carpet. Family Room has a greyish/beige berber carpet. Not bad, just not good either. powermuffin... thank you for that idea! I am going to do just that. I am in no great hurry. I have the carpet stripped and furniture moved out of one room, it had been a den and now will be a guest bedroom. Of course all the junk from there has been piled in other rooms but it is upstairs so i can hide it away for a while. I like the idea of the sample pots. Paint has gotten so expensive. I picked up a gallon to touch up the trim on the deck and it was 38 dollars!

Well the only ones that I have right now are w/ the lights on. I also use flourescent bulbs so that does affect the color. So far I like it. To me even though it is totally a color it is registering as a 'none color' to my eye which I really appreciate. Nothing in your face. I think that it sets off my antique lithograph's very nicely as well as my ivory curtains. It really is very hard to describe. As soon as it is sunny out I will take daytime pics. It def. is warm and not a cold grey which I was very concerned about since this rm. gets it's best light in the late morning and early afternoon. For now:

Thanks for the input everyone! We would be doing a similar shade in cabinet paint to the trim paint--both would be shade of white. The trim will be a SW Linen White to match the interior windows--this is not a standard color they carry, it is apparently a special formula they make for Pella (the interior of the windows were pre-painted at the Pella factory). There will be at least 2 places in the kitchen/breakfast/great room area where trim and cabinet would be right against each other, and probably a similar amount of spots in each bathroom. So, I'm thinking from your responses and, given my answers to your questions, I probably should try to match the trim and cabinets--if we do an off-white shade on the cabinet. ontariomom, it's interesting that you feel glaze is not as timeless--I've thought the same thing about the gray, beige, green, etc. painted cabinets that seem so popular right now. My husband and I both really love the weathered or aged look that glaze provides. We did it in our last remodel and were very happy. However, I've heard others in addition to you mention that they feel glaze is not classic or is "out." So, I'm going back and forth on doing what we love (glaze) with chance it may look dated relatively soon, trying a painted "color" cabinet such as light gray or beige, or doing a painted off-white cabinet with no glaze. tcufrog, I'm trying to work with the cabinetmaker to get sample boards, so hopefully that will help the decision!

around the cabinet I would remove it it doesnt be long. around the mirror stain to match the cabinet. if the trim around the cabinet it to cover a gap I would fill it or caulk it and paint it to match the wall.
