Oh, this is so timely - I'm going through the same debate and am 90% sold on going to rings. But for practical reasons - I use extension rods and my panels get caught up on the spot where little rod goes into big rod. And the rods are 9' up... and I'm only 5'10... so all I can do is stand there and yank until it comes clear. Good thing we used the anchors when we installed the rods! But I LOVE the look of rings. And I think they would be absolutely charming in your space... but maybe not "clip" rings. I'd take the time to attach them, if you had some fabric scraps or something (if you needed to hem the length the accomodate the rings, you night get scraps that way), or could sew them in (think this was mentioned above). There's something a little "messy" and something a little "cheap" about seeing the clips themselves that I never care can quite get over, and your space is so lovely and warm... I just don't see the clippies. I'm also going to echo something noted above. If you go to rings, you won't get that nice (sash? swag? pullback?) look to your curtains unless you really work for it, or somehow block the rings - but then you lose the great functionality. I tried to keep that look on DH's WTs, also on rings, and gave up. Now I usually just let her panels hang straight down, covering up the adorable holdbacks I labored on for 2 weekends.

The blog below has some great information on drapery. She has an example of a flat panel with drapery pins placed so that two of them can be inserted into one ring, thus giving the look of a cartridge pleat (that's my description). She calls it a wave heading. I was wondering if you could do this with your rod pocket (I know it won't have buckram in the top, but it should have several layers of fabric) and it might make them look nicer than clips and make them hang better. I know exactly how frustrating this can be. I never could get the look I wanted. Then I read the linked Ideabook on Houzz. A lightbulb went off in my head. I bought pinch pleated drapes, then went to JoAnn Fabrics to buy small pleat hooks so that the hook would be near the top of the drape. The hook is what slips through the little ring below the ring that is on the curtain rod. The Houzz article might have a little too much info about other elements of the WT, so just skip down to part you need. I am thrilled with how my bedroom curtains turned out. Good luck! Thanks Kathi, I think I figured it out. You wouldn't think it could be so difficult! I tried it your way a couple of times myself but I ended up with 9 rings and you need an even number for them to hang evenly with the ends toward the back (I think). I put rings on the ends 2 inches in. Then divided the remaining space by 9 and somehow ended up with 10 perfectly spaced rings! Go figure. Now I need to buy more rings because for some reason they put 7 in a package when most people will need at least 8. Maybe more sane people don't stress over the even number requirement.
